Third person POV:
Emily had set Marcus down on her book and sat down on her chair and looked at him. She had some questions about him that she wanted to ask but didn't how start the conversation."Hey you good there?" Marcus asked concerned as he saw her saw staring at him for a minute.
She shook her head and looked at him and answered "yeah I'm good I'm just terrible at starting conversation"
"It's okay,so I assume from the way your looking at me you have some questions about me" he said smiling at her nervous face.
"If it's no trouble I'm just curious about a few things but it's okay if you don't want to answer" she said smiling nervously afraid that she might be invading his privacy.
"Nah it's cool but in return I wanna ask questions about you" he replied confidently.
"That's fine I don't mind *folds her arms on the table and sat her head on her arms* so have you been always here before I was even born or something no offense but you don't look that old" she asked having a curious look on her face.
Marcus shook his head and answered "no actually I just came here last month ,I had some trouble at my last house so I decided to move and I'm actually 19 years old."
Emily looked surprised that she didn't notice him before ,probably because her parents were starting to fight and she was busy with her school and work to notice, she giggled when he said his age and said "isn't it ironic that your older than me by a year and yet you're the small one"
He giggled and rubbed his head "yeah it is pretty ironic."
Emily then thought 'his laugh is cute' but then she blushed when she realized what she thought but decided to ignore it and continued "so what made you come here and are there any other people like here?"
Marcus sighed and explained"that is kinda of a long story ,you see sometimes when borrowers search for a home it must be somewhere safe for them to build a home in the walls and has food and supplies they can borrow, but in places where there are pets or children that might see them or they can't get food they find themselves with the option to leave or find themselves almost getting seen ,they choose to leave and look for a new home, in my case it's my leg that causes that's the problem ,see this *points to his lost leg and sees her nodding * I had lost my leg in a mousetrap when I was 12 I ended making a wooden leg from some old wood I found but it gives me trouble sometimes like in my last house I had trouble getting food from the shelves because it didn't help me with the climbing to very high places and it caused me to trip sometimes and it was getting harder every time so I moved out and came here where the food in your kitchen is easier to get since your kitchen is isn't that big and you store extra food in the storage next to the kitchen and to answer your second question no there is no other borrowers except me here"
Emily took a moment to think about the things he said it looks life is hard for the borrowers and she felt bad for Marcus but he talked about his leg she felt terrible when she heard he lost it when he was 12 .But what she was really curious about is 'why was he alone where's his parents?' She thought about asking but decided that maybe he didn't want to take about it so she decided to ask something else.
She then remembered hearing him in the wall talking about losing his stump and decided to ask "and what happened to your stump when you were coming here you said it got stuck in a cat's throat?" She asked with a confused.
His face became red all sudden and he looked embarrassed "yeah I was getting some fruit from you backyard when a cat has bounced on me behind my back ,I kept fighting it but in the end I lost my stump."
"Oh my gosh are you okay, did that cat didn't hurt somewhere?" She asked concerned and began looking at him for any injuries.
"I'm okay thanks for the concern I was able to avoid getting injuries from the cat I only lost my leg stump" he reassured her as he hopped down the book and started to look around while hopping on his leg.
Emily the remembered something and said "Marcus" she asked since both are starting to feel comfortable around each other. The borrower paused in his hopping around the desk in search of materials for a new leg stump and stared at her giant face .
He simply couldn't get over naturally beautiful green eyes that twinkled behind her thick black glasses, her soft looking hair that is still braided down her back . It captivated him in a strange way.
"Hmm?" He smiled at her balancing on his good leg and her book.
Emily blushed slightly at his smile and tucked a strand of her brown hair behind her ear "You know my dad has in the attic and old collection of pirate dolls ,if you want I could take one of the wooden leg for you."
"Oh Umm" Marcus's face began to redden again,he had no idea what a pirate was . "You really don't have to go to the trouble Emily." He said after an agonizing pause.
He was grateful that Emily would would offer to do something so kind to him especially when they'd only known each other for a few minutes. He actually started warming up to her ."It's no trouble ,I'll grab it for you" Emily smiled, standing up from her chair . Marcus watched her leaving the room closing the door a little behind her . He started hopping across her desk for a few minutes and started to look at her room . It was a simple room with yellow walls, a bed and nightstand next to it, plus the wardrobe and a window right above the desk and some designs of flowers on the walls. He didn't had a chance to see completely before because he always borrowers when it's dark to avoid a chance of being seen.
He was still looking around when the door opened and Emily had returned.
"Miss me?" She teased as she sat down in front of him.He shrugged but still was grinning at her.
"You were only gone for a minute so no not really ." He teased
The human girl snorted ,holding out her hand to the borrower, in the middle of her palm was a tiny wooden stump that was crafted to Marcus's size.
He whistled under his breath and leaned forward on his good leg and was examining it."Holy shit Emily it's perfect ,thank you! Hope that pirate won't miss it" he laughed while rolling up his pants and sliding the stump in.
Emily just giggled and told him "it won't ,hope you like it."
He smiled to himself at the familiar feeling. "Even matches my clothes!" He added beaming.
He tried to stand and walk but almost fell if it wasn't for her finger that held him. "I might try getting used to it since it's new but it's fine"he said.
Emily felt herself blush again at his appreciation . She noticed how it looked so much better on him that the pirate doll. It actually made him look more handsome and cute.
'What is he doing to me?'
