Tension rises as the full moon peeks between the blanket of dark clouds. Tonight's forecast is a slight drizzle; the cold, brisk air and damp pavement feel dangerous yet exhilarating. As I approach the entrance, I look down at my watch— 12:15 am. Slipping through the cracks, I place myself in the planned position.
"Status?" I hear Felix say in my inner ear.
"All tunnels and vents are clear," I reply, "Permission to proceed please."There is a pause followed by a few clicks on the other line. I remain still with a keen eye on my surroundings; on the outside I must remain invisible, but on the inside my energy is begging to propel forward. After what seems like an eternity, he gives me the cue.
"Go."
In an instant, I sprint through the abandoned complex without leaving a trace. Feeling the wind slide past me is the best part of the job, and the light placements of my feet allow me to run with complete silence. At each corner, I make sure to check my front and back before the final paths that lead to the center. I run again a few meters ahead and.... shit.
Someone's here.
There's another presence nearby, and they're moving fast. But how? I did everything correctly, and now it's too late to phone for help.
No matter what I'm retrieving the drive. If that means a race, then bring it on.
I'm sorry hope that wasn't too cringey 🤡
