Slash x Reader

Summary: Slash finally thinks it's time for Y/n to meet his kids and his boys can't help but agree. Y/n, on the other hand, doesn't know when the right time is. She can't help but be nervous about the thought of meeting the boys as they are more important than anything else to Slash.

Y/n gripped the wheel with an iron hold, her nerves getting the best of her. She knew there was no reason to be nervous. She'd be fine, it would be fine. But she couldn't help it, what she was about to do was a big deal. It may not have been a big deal like graduating college or getting the job she'd always hoped for. In a world where the small things were center stage, what she was about to do mattered.

She let out a sigh, coming to a stop at a stoplight and turned the radio up.

Y/n had been dating Slash for six months. It was probably the best six months of her life if she were to be honest, but she was only 26, so what did she know about life? Probably nothing. It was odd dating the man, it wasn't necessarily the age gap between the two, she didn't care much for age after she turned 18. It was probably more the life he lived. He'd be all over the world, places she's never even thought of going. Upon further inspection, though, it wasn't that either.

Y/n knew when getting into a relationship with him that he had two kids. He didn't try and hide it, any time he could talk about the boys, he would. They were his pride and joy, one of the reasons he worked so hard. Y/n was glad that he loved his kids so much, so she never pushed meeting them. Maybe he wanted to wait until they were in a serious relationship, had been together for a while. She didn't might that, after all, even if they were to split up the boys would still be there for him. They would be ever-present in his life and he had to put them first.

But then one day he'd asked her over for dinner. Slash told her that the boys had been bugging him about meeting her. At first, she wasn't sure how to react. Of course, he would want her to go because he couldn't disappoint his kids, but what if he wasn't ready for them to meet her? But after a little persuasion, he convinced her to go. He was just as ready for her to meet the boys as the boys were to meet her.

And that is how she ended up in the car, gripping the steering wheel like it was her lifeline.

To say she was nervous was an understatement, she was probably more nervous than she had ever been before. This was a big deal. The opinion of two children could ruin her whole relationship and she was supposed to live with it. How could she tell his kids that they couldn't like her? That she was perfect for their father even if they didn't see it? Oh, that's right, she couldn't. That was the last thing she could do. Slash had assured her that they would love her and they were over the moon about finally getting to meet her but that didn't mean anything. Not if she didn't live up to their expectations.

Y/n pulled into the drive and turned the car off. Taking a deep breath, she grabbed her purse from the passenger seat and exited the car. It would be fine. They had no reason to absolutely hate her. She quickly walked up to the front door, pushing the doorbell.

Rocking on her heels, Y/n waited as a stampede of footsteps could be heard from the other side of the door. The door opened, revealing two boys, the taller of the two she assumed was London, while the boy next to him had to be Cash.

Before anyone could say anything, Slash came into view, smiling at the sight in front of him. "Glad you could make it," he said, gesturing for her to enter. Once in the house, he turned to the boys, "Boys, this is Y/n. Y/n this is London and Cash."

Y/n smiled at the boys, getting two in return.

"Dinner's almost ready, why don't you two go wash up?" he asked the boys before turning to Y/n and helping her take off her jacket.

The boys disappeared down the hall, leaving Y/n and Slash alone.

"You've got nothing to worry about," he whispered, wrapping his arms around her.

She let out a sigh. How many times had she told herself that? Enough to where she should have believed it but it made no difference. "I know, I know."

"They will love you, okay? You just gotta give it some time."

She nodded, breaking away. "Yeah, I know. Now, what'd you say about dinner?"

From there, the two went into the kitchen where the food was almost done. Y/n took the salad and fruit plate and placed them on the table much to Slash's dismay. He insisted that she take a seat and let him and the boys take care of it, but she wasn't having it. Even if she was a guest, she still had manners. When everything was at the table and everyone took their seats, they started piling food onto their plates before starting a conversation.

Though she hadn't said much to the boys since she arrived, she could tell that they at least didn't hate her. They looked at with warm eyes and kind smiles.

"Your dad tells me you're in a band," Y/n looked at London.

The boy nodded, glancing up from his plate. "Yeah, the Classless Act."

"They're really good, you'll have to come to a show sometime," Cash told her, while he reached for the salad.

"He's a drummer," Slash said, nudging London. "A damn good one, too."

"I'll definitely have to catch a show."

When their mouths weren't full, the silence was filled with light conversation. The boys asked where she worked, what her favorite instrument was, and dozens of more questions about music. It was clear that music wasn't just their father's passion. Y/n slowly felt herself start to relax as the night progressed. She wasn't sure why she had been so stressed over meeting the boys as Slash was right, she had nothing to worry about.

When dinner was over, Y/n helped clear the table and waited in the kitchen while Slash put the boys to bed. She hadn't realized how late it was until she looked at her phone. It was nearly midnight and they'd spent almost the whole night around the table talking. She hoped that was a good sign.

Slash entered the kitchen a few minutes later with a huge grin plastered on his face. He walked over to her and kissed her before opening the fridge and looking for beer.

"I hope that means I've got the all-clear from the boys," she commented and grabbed a beer that he offered her.

The man nodded, brushing a lock of hair out of the way while he looked for the bottle opener. "You've got the all-clear, alright. Cash even wants to know when you're gonna be over again."

Y/n laughed, handing her bottle over once Slash found the bottle opener. "Well, when am I gonna come over again?"

"Maybe you could spend the night," he suggested.

"Maybe I could."
