Aizawa Shouta pov

"Endeavour stopped a villain from bombing up a nearby powerplant, however, an apartment building caught fire. Ten people died and five others are missing."

"Oh, that's just horrible." Hizashi murmured next to Shouta on the couch.

The images of the dead appeared on the screen including the five presumed dead. A twelve-year-old boy, with fair skin, dark green hair and freckled cheeks popped on the screen. In that instant, Aizawa was off the couch and heading out on patrol. He needed to see the kid and make sure he was okay.

"Shouta! Where are you going, love?" Hizashi called after him.

"Out!" He gruffly said, but the worry was laced into his words.

He had been running around town for the past four hours and had seen no sign of the kid. The media also had no sign of him tonight. The kid had started three to four patrols a week now, which was concerning on its own.

'If only the kid would talk to him!' Aizawa growled, the frustration knotting itself in his stomach.

He was just about to give up when he saw the figure of someone hunched over the edge. He saw the slight twitch of a tail and was sprinting over there. However, when he heard soft sniffles coming from Sunshine he decided to slowly approach the child. Sunshine was yes many, incredible things, but a child he was also.

"Hey, kid. What's wrong?" The look he got was all the reply he needed, tears were creating out from under the visor. He froze, it felt like an eclipse over the usually cheeky grin now replaced by a frown. "Do you want to talk about it?" Aizawa offered.

Sunshine turned his face back to the edge, almost like he was thinking about it. So Aizawa sat down beside him, offering his presence as comfort.

"I once thought jumping was the answer to all of my problems." Sunshine murmured, Aizawa barely heard it over his small sniffs. Though he felt himself physically flinch and turned to see the boy still staring down. "The idea of taking my own life sounded like the best course of action. Especially since I was useless to the point that the other kids bullied me about. No one should have wanted me, yet my mother stood through it all. She never looked at me with disgust only love. I knew what I was doing was wrong, but it just felt right." The kid paused lifting his head, more tears were running down his face. "However, that night I heard a women scream and ran to her aide. And the feeling I got from helping her said everything. I had already given up on my dreams but with that chance encounter, I knew I could never give up on being a hero. So I became a vigilante for others, but also to protect her smile." Sunshine paused then turned to face Aizawa. "Do you I failed her Eraserhead? Do you think she's mad at me for failing her?! She's probably up there now hating my guts!" His sobs became louder and his voice croaked. "It should have been me in that stupid building, not her! I should be dead! Not her!" The sound of his fists beating the building awoke Aizawa from his thoughts.

He grabbed the kids hand, wrapping his arm carefully over Sunshines shoulder. Pulling him closer, letting the kid rest his head against his shoulder. "Never wish to say something like that again, please Sunshine!" The beg clear in his voice. "You have done so much good and will continue to. Your mother would be so proud of you and by the sounds of it. She wouldn't want you to hate yourself, she'd want you to do the next right thing."

"And what would be the next right thing, Eraserhead?" If the blackened glass wasn't there, Aizawa's shields would've crumbled there. The kid would be wrapped up in his scarf, safe from the world. He and Present Mic would protect him from sadness, but he knew that would cause all the trust he'd gain to be lost.

"By living for yourself now." Aizawa said, rubbing circles into the kids back. Light snores were heard from Sunshine, making Aizawa chuckle lightly at their similarities.

He gently lifted the kid and he then settled down against the roof entry. Him and the kid listening to the cities quiet hum, before Aizawa dozed off.

Waking up the next day, cold and alone. A small note with an apology for being a hassle stuck to his head along with a see you soon, thumbs up. That kid never ceased to amaze him with his courage.
