Everything in his body was burning. His head was heavy and he couldn't move; to weak, for the fall, the fight, the blood loss.
And his heart was aching too.
It was aching, because of what Krux had told him, the sharpness of his words.
He was his brother. The only member left of his family. And now he was gone as well. He had tried to kill him, he didn't want him around anymore.
He was...useless.
The sun was blinding him, even if he had his eyes closed. He wanted to rose his arms to protect his face, but it was too difficult. He was weak, they were too heavy.
He then realised...he was breathing. More o less. He was laying on a hard surface but it was covered with a soft substance. A...cold substance. "S...snow..?" He thought. It could be but...that meant that he was so far away from Ninjago. But the biggest problem was that nobody ever built anything, outside ninjago. That meant he was alone and he was...dying.
The wind blew on his face, messing with his hair and dragging a few snowflakes. Acronix forced himself to open his eyes, at least a bit.
And he was right. He was in a Frozen Forest, on the banks of the river. The water surely had threw him on the side.
He rolled on his side, trying to stand up, but once he had managed to get on his knees, he fell again on the ground. He moaned in pain and groaned. He definitively had no energy at all and all he wanted to do was sleeping, to recover his strenght. But he would have died, laying too long in the snow. But even if it was cold, it was soft as well, comfortable. The low temperature helped him ignore the pain he was still feeling in his whole body. He dragged himself in the cold, frozen ground, using his only safe arm; the one cutted by Krux was broken. He had heard the snap of the bone, while in the river. His breath was rising up to the sky, in small white clouds. The drops of water were freezing on his face and in his hair. He had wounds in all his body, he could feel the warm blood still streaming down his legs, back, arms, chest. The armour was destroyed, now he only had a piece to protect the shoulder and a bit of his arm. The whole part of the forearm was lost and the plate on his chest was lost as well.
His clothes were ripped in some spots, his bare skin exposed to the cold bite of the forest. The exposed cuts weren't bleeding anymore; the blood was frozen as well, stucked on his skin.
He reached the larg, exposed roots of one of the thousands birch of that forest and leant against it, to rest for a while. The river was growling and running in front of his eyes. He identified a round, big rock. The pain on his lower back was surely caused by it. He thought he could have been throw agains it by the river current. He tried to take his breath, but he ended up coughing, since his lungs were filled with water. He turned to the side, throwing up nothing but blood and water.
He didn't even had the strenght to clean his mouth either. A few drops of blood and water, dripped on the frozen ground.
He leant his head against the birch, he was feeling numb, he didn't want to move. He didn't have the force to do it. His eyelids were heavy and so his limbs.
It hurt to think but he couldn't avoid it; mixed to his thought for Borg, were now those for Krux. Why did he acted like that?
He had lost him. His brother...he had tried to kill him...when did he lose him? When did it happen? What..? He didn't know. And he was scared; he was alone, hurted. His brother didn't want him. And...nobody cared about him.
Before he knew, a few tears streamed down his cheeks and he started crying silently. He didn't mean to disappoint him, but it was...what it was. He was in love with a man and that man was their...no, he was Krux's enemy. He would have give his life to protect him, even if that meant fight his brother.
The pain shoot once again through his body, harder than before. He gritted his teeth and fell on the ground, trying to bare the grief. He slammed his head on the large root of the birch, passing out.
He didn't noticed that a falcon had watched him the whole time. Its feathers were blu/violet coloured. The yellow eyes had followed Acronix's movements with great interest. He had tilted its head, once in a while.
When the Time Master passed out, the bird flew down the tree and landed on the root, near Acronix's head. He pecked Acronix's shoulder a couple times. The rose its head and took off, flying away in the evening sky, leaving the Twin alone.Kai was flying back to the Monastery. He had spent almost all the day flying around with Flame, thinking of what Borg had told him. A little smile appeared on his face.
The inventor was right, Zane was still with them. In their heart and mind. In the sweetest memories and so was Pixal.
Zane wouldn't have wanted them to be sad for his departure. He was the first who would have told them to don't worry, to move on.
He looked around and observed the dark silhouette of the mountains, on the landscape.
The city, under them was shining due the red lanterns, the citizens had lighted on. The orange lights were giving a good visual of the streets. The people looked like small, colourful ants, saw from such a distance.
Kai's attention got caught by something, which flew really near his face.
He rose his fist, wrapped in a tongue of fire, but when he found what it was, he simply smiled. A falcon, the same falcon who was in the birch forest, approached Flame's head and, somehow, signed him to follow. Without any order from the Fire Master, the dragon followed the bird down to the City.
"Hey, slow down, big boy!" Kai demanded, caressing Flame's neck. The dragon appeared to be deaf, he just followed the falcon to the city square, where the bird landed on the branch of a peach tree. The pink flowers were a beautiful show, for the citizens' eyes, expecially with the orange light of the lanterns on them.
"Wait for me, okay buddy?" Kai said, smiling gently to the beast. He caressed him on the snout. The dragon closed his big, yellow eyes and let out a happiness sound.
Kai then followed the bird, once it took off the branch.
"Where are we going?" He asked. The falcon turned to him and then back at the street they were walking.
"Why did you bring me here?- Kai asked, once he saw where the falcon had brought him. -I don't think Cyrus Borg would be happy to see me again today."
A gentle, soft chuckle reached his ears. "Oh, Kai. I couldn't be more happy to see my friend." Doctor Borg wheeled next to Kai. The spike haired boy smiled back at him. "Good to see you again, doctor Borg." He said. The falcon flew on Borg's arm and rubbed its head against the inventor's shoulder. "Hello to you, my friend."
Kai rose his eyebrows. "Wait...you now this falcon?" He was amazed and he didn't realise he had his mouth half opened. "Yes, she's an amazing specimen.- Borg explained. -I wonder why she is such in excitement."
The man observed the behaviour of the bird, trying to understand it. He then smiled and, caressing her head, Borg turned to Kai.
"I think she wants you to follow her." Kai was in disbelief. "But...I have to warn the others! We are down of a ninja and...I'll tell them about this, alright?"
His mouth fell wide opened when the falcon...nodded? The Master of Fire rubbed his eyes. He was tired. Animals cannot nod. Right? But when he looked at the bird again, the falcon nodded again."Master Wu!" The whole squad ran out in the Monastery courtyard, hearing the Fire Master's call. "What is it!?" Jay jumped, pulling his nunchaks out. "Troubles?" Cole asked, slamming his fists together. "My father is back again!?" Lloyd drew his sword and frowned. "What? No!- Kai showed them the Falcon, who was flying over his head. -She's Borg's. He told me she wants us to follow her. But I thought it was better to tell you first! What do you think?" Nya scratched the back of her head.
"I don't know, Kai.- She muttered. -It's not that I don't trust doctor Borg, but...where will she bring us?" Her brother shrugged his shoulders. "I have no clue." He admitted.
While they were talking, Master Wu had extended his arm, allowing the bird to land on it. "I'll follow her.- He announced. -You must stay here and protect the city."
He summoned a big white dragon, gold wings and light blue eyes and got on top of him. "See you soon, my ninja!" He said, smiling under the pearl colour beard. And under the amazed eyes of his students, the dragon took off the ground, disappearing in the night.
