"Can we really trust him? He just got out of juvie Yuri,"

Yuri nodded curtly at her supervisor, glancing at her best friend Beomgyu, who stood patiently behind the café's counter.

"Trust me sir, don't be fooled by other people's judgements about him. He's a good person and by far, the only person I trust to take over my position," Yuri stated firmly.

Sighing in defeat, her supervisor walked towards Beomgyu before handing the taller boy a brand new apron. Beomgyu's eyes lit up in surprise, quickly thanking his new boss before casting a soft smile at Yuri.

After finishing his conversation with his new boss, Beomgyu skipped happily towards Yuri before engulfing her in his arms.

"Thank you Yuri, I've truly missed you," Beomgyu mumbled as he buried his head in her shoulder.

Despite feeling the evident flutter of heart, Yuri decided it was best if she pushed away her unrequited feelings towards Beomgyu away for now. For she wanted to help him get back up on his feet after being in juvie for 3 years.

"I missed you so much more Gyu, you have no idea,"

Pulling away from her embrace, Beomgyu's smiled down at Yuri, gazing softly in her eyes as his hidden dimple made an appearance. She couldn't believe that he was finally back in her arms with a contented smile plastered on.

3 years was enough for her to miss him greatly; it was enough for him to lose the smile she dearly loved.

"Dad let him go!" Yuri cried out as she tried to push away her drunken father.

Chaos unleashed in her broken home as Yuri's father continuously pounded his fists against the young boy crushed beneath his weight. Finding as much strength in his frail body, Beomgyu pushed his best friend's old man before scrambling next to Yuri.

Despite the evident fear in his eyes, Beomgyu wrapped his arms protectively around Yuri before her father could strike his fist against her. Instead, Beomgyu accepted the blow as he felt the smaller girl in his arms tremble anxiously.

"Get your fucking hands away from my daughter, only I can touch her!" Yuri's father bellowed.

Yuri could only bury her head into Beomgyu's chest, her anxiety getting the best of her as she watched her father cackle maniacally before taking another swig of beer.

"What is he talking about Yuri? Did he.. do that to you?" Beomgyu uttered out in shock.

Staring at his best friend with wide eyes, fury only outgrew the fear in his body. As Yuri nodded her head shakily, it was enough reason for Beomgyu's emotions get the best of him.

He couldn't help but feel the immense guilt in his heart, only finding out about Yuri's daily lifestyle despite being best friends for almost a decade. As he grew older did his feelings for the girl develop into sincere love.

And love can make you do crazy things.

As Beomgyu faced Yuri's father, nothing else mattered but the fact that the young boy wanted the disgusting man to pay for his sins; for hurting the girl he cared and loved for deeply.

Taking long strides towards the drunken man, Beomgyu snatched away the beer bottle before smashing it against the man's head. The shattering sound of the intoxicated glass bottle shook Yuri to her core before she gasped in horror at the bloody sight of her father.

As Beomgyu dropped the beer bottle did he realise the damage he caused. For there lay Yuri's father unmoving as blood seeped out from his head. The young boy glanced down at his hands before finding fragments of broken glass and strings of blood in full view.

Although she understood Beomgyu's intentions, she couldn't help but feel guilty for dragging him into her mess. If only she had showed up to school, if only she had returned his calls, he wouldn't have to stop by to check up on her.

He wouldn't have to find out about her being a victim of such cruel abuse—he wouldn't have to murder her father out of love and anger.

"Y-Yuri, I'm so sorry," Beomgyu choked out painfully.

"Gyu, you're so stupid," Yuri muttered tearfully as she rushed over to her best friend.

Embracing him in her arms did Yuri understand the grave consequences he still had to face. The both of them always lived honestly, they knew that love was not enough to save them from the misery of Beomgyu's future.

Holding onto each other as if the world was at its end, the duo sobbed painful tears that night. They could only hope and pray that such a thing wouldn't happen again.

"Thank you Gyu,"
