Syderia is the name of the School of the Gifted in Dystopia.
In this school, we have have 4 years, starting at the age of 14 as 1st graders through to 17 as 4th graders.
1st and 2nd graders are Juniors. 3rd and 4th graders are Seniors.
Elites are students who are exceptional at various subjects and show an outstanding performance, thus being appointed Elites one in their 4th year at Syderia. The subjects are as follows.
Juniors do not have electives. They do the following subjects:
Combat — this is taught by Halden Acadia for Juniors only.
Gift Harnessing — development of one's gift
Weaponry— study of the arts of varying weapons (such as swords and daggers) and how they can be used for self defence
Dystopian History
Archery
Perception — enhancing one's awareness through their sense— being able to adapt to varying situations, understand their surroundings and respond to clues
Studies of Dystopian Species — learning about Dystopia's flora and fauna generally. Seniors have the same option, but it is seperate into one class focusing on Flora and one for Fauna. Think about like this: in Junior years we do "Science" as a subject, but in Senior years we choose either "Biology", "Chemistry", "Physics" and so on. So this subject is more a general outlook on the species of Dystopia. These are usually held in the GreenhouseSeniors have electives, so they choose 7 of the following subjects:
Combat — This is not taught by Hal lol.
Gift Harnessing
Weaponry
Dystopian History
Dystopian Affairs — studying Dystopia's current situations, Cassiopeia's influence on Dystopia, the law and social hierarchy etc
Culinary Class — fooooooodddd
Perception
Archery
Survivalism — This is similar to perception, however while Perception focuses on enhancing the use of your senses, Survivalism is about being prepared for emergencies, knowing how to survive in varying situations, treating various wounds etc. It deals with near-death experiences as well as possible breakdowns of the Dystopian society.
Creativity — arts, crafts, design
Studies of Dystopian Species— this would have two seperate subjects: Botany and Ecology and Animalia Studies
Mortal Studies — basically understanding the mortal world and lifestyle and culturesOnce someone is chosen as an Elite, they can have the choice of the following subjects:
Glyphic Studies— the study of Glyphs (our word for Runes, if you will)
Alchemy — the combination of Chemistry and Magic, transformation of substances into other substances (transmutation)
Convergence — this is covered in the Elites' Gift Harnessing class
Theoretical Study of Origins — the study of the history of magic, the origins of Magic-types and Elementals. This class covers many ancient sources and theories of the history of different gifts, how the heiracrchy of powers came about, and how different Realms may have played a part in the origins of the gifted~
In regards to Everly, Valencia and Dale:
If you look at the list, you will see that the Juniors don't have any electives and have 7 subjects set for the,. These 7 subjects are still offered as electives for the Seniors along with a bunch of new things.
Now because Val, Ev and Dale are new, but their ages suggest that they should be in the 3rd year, they should take the 7 subjects that are offered to the Juniors but learn it at the Senior level that they are in. That way, they can have the same chance to discover what their talents and capabilities are whilst also not starting off with a bunch of 14 year olds.
This seems reasonable since the three girls probably wouldn't know which subjects would best suit them since they just came from the Mortal world where they learnt boring stuff... they don't know just how good they are with their gifts, combat, weapons and solving problems. However, this also means that the two Junior year they have miss out on is their responsibility to catch up on.
~For the characters that you play, please choose the three subjects they have chose (excl. the three new girls and Ross)
