Okay so I knew this would be the best attempt to get your full attention to this which I really need to bring to your attention and it is something that is bothering me at the moment (lol so dramatic).
*Short disclaimer: don't get offended or attacked for what I am about to say-- it's just a roleplay and I honestly just want to give some constructed criticism.*
So I've seen that at some times in the roleplay, we haven't been abiding by the general rules of the roleplay-- and that is fine, I've let most of them go because at the end of the day, this isn't a huge issue; this roleplay is made for fun.
And since it was made for fun, I would also need you to try your to keep by the rules and not ruin the fun for the other role players.
Some of the rules I have seen to be broken are the simple ones like accidentally controlling other people's characters, not keeping up with time zones in the roleplay, creating your own big plans within the roleplay without making it known to others, roleplaying during exam week (I'm most guilty for this one lol) etc.
These are all petty reasons for this message, but what is NOT a petty reason for this update is-- and I will not name and shame-- OVER POWERING YOUR CHARACTERS and NOT GOING BY THE CHARACTER'S FORMS.
I'll address each issue separately.
OVER-POWERED CHARACTERS
So you guys know how much we all hate this one, so if you believe you do this (and I apologise if I ever made any of my characters more powerful than they should be) then quit it-- and if you fail to quit it then Imma name and shame (ooft I'm so dramatic).
Let me give you a quick example:
Everly and Blayze are fighting each other during one of Hal's lessons during one of the Masked Guard meetings. Tassie really wants her character, Everly, to seem so awesome and cool and win the damn fight-- blocking all of Blayze's attacks, doing all these awesome tricks that Hal probably doesn't even know (and that is saying something). However, I, JinSquared, am getting very annoyed at this situation because Everly had only been at this school for approx. 3 months while Blayze has: (1) Grown up in Dystopia (2) Been in this school for 4 YEARS and (3) is and ELITE, meaning he is the best of the best.
From this situation, Everly is cancelled because this is UNREALISTIC AND ANNOYING.
(Btw not saying Everly specifically does this.... just used her as an example to not name and shame the characters who DO this *cough cough*)
Let's cover a less dramatic example:
The previous example was pretty obvious. This one won't include any of the new girls in comparison to an Elite.
I'm gonna give an actual example which had occurred during this roleplay in Chapter 3-- Ash and Dec's fight (sit down and take notes).
Ash is cool and all-- she is in her third year at this school, is pretty good at everything but a little less at Gift Harnessing. You know why? Because she actually has FLAWS and the person that roleplays her actually knows she can't be excelling dramatically at everything because she just isn't at that level and JinSquared knows this. Declan is an Elite-- so he is good AT TECHNICALLY MOST STUFFS. Ash and Dec are fighting during this lesson. Dec obviously gets more hits in and Ash does too but Dec has the upper hand because it makes more sense.
Overall:
I know we all want our characters to be good at everything but we can't have that. Ash, Cam and Cleo are all flawed, they aren't good at everything and they've been training for three years.
-Ash is quite good with anything that requires speed and stamina, and she kinda sucks at Gift Harnessing.
-Cam is great at Gift Harnessing and combat, however (as established in my first reply for Cam in the 2nd guard shift in Chapter 4) she isn't as good with a sword-- she is intermediate.
-Cleo is smart and intelligent; great at tinkering with metals, inventing and basically excels at things that require knowledge and kinda less great at things which require physical activity such as combat.
As you can see, they all have their strengths and weaknesses even though they've been in the school for much longer than Everly, Dale and Valencia-- the three new girls that rock up and are supposedly just great at EVERYTHING like they are on the Elite level (Give or take... not all of the new girls are like this).
So please, and this goes for ALL FIVE OF US, sit down, take a chill pill and work on their flaws. If you control an Elite, then you're good-- they're supposed to be great at everything (but that doesn't mean their perfect-- give them some flaws regarding personality and stuff).
If you want your character to be that awesome, give it TIME and let them have a realistic period where they can develop some skill... after all, they never took sword-fighting and gift-harnessing in the mortal realm (just sayin').
NOT ABIDING BY CHARACTER'S FORMS
I get it. It's hard. Especially since we all have characters that were assigned to us and we didn't create. BUT SOMETIMES YOU GOTTA GO BACK AND READ THEIR FORMS SO THEY CAN BE ROLE PLAYED PROPERLY.
I'm not gonna name and shame, but I will name and fame.
For example:
Bookworm has been assigned the character Blayze-- who she did not create the form for. But you see, she READ the form and ABIDES by it, which is why everyone likes Blayze and why everyone likes the way he is roleplayed, because when we read his form HIS PERSONALITY MATCHES HOW HE IS PLAYED OUT TO BE. (Round of applause for Bookworm)
So try your best and go by the character's forms.
In regards to your personal character, then everyone is fine since we basically know those characters the most.
THANK YOU AND HAPPY ROLEPLAYING AND DON'T BE IGNORANT OF YOUR MISTAKES AND TAKE THIS MESSAGE INTO CONDERATION
QUICK TEST: IF YOU ACTUALLY READ THIS, LEAVE A COMMENT AND A VOTE BECAUSE IF YOU DIDN'T I WILL KNOW YOU DIDN'T READ THIS AND I WILL CONFRONT YOU MWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA
okay toodles and happy roleplaying by the rules!
