Dream was looking at his room, thinking.
"I don't know if there's a lot of room... We can fit a sleeping bag in of I move my desk..."
He started moving furniture.
Cross smiles shyly and rubs the side of his neck, looking at the ground to avoid eye contact.
"You really don't have to do all that, I can find a spot."
Dream giggles.
"Nonsense. You're a guest! And I don't want you to have more trouble than you've had."
Cross lessened his smile.
"Right..."
It wasn't completely wrong. He did have hardship... Just not from where Dream thought.
Dream moved the desk and got out a pastel yellow sleeping bag from his walk-in closet as well as an extra pillow.
"Here you go!"
"Thanks...?"
"I'm Dream!"
Cross gave in and let himself smile a bit more genuinely.
"Right. Thanks, Dream."
"No problem, Cross!"
He sat on the sleeping bag, staring ahead of him. It... Reminded him of something...
"Yeah, that was a fun camping trip."
Cross jolted.
'Geez, Chara, warn me when you want to pop up.'
Chara snorts, appearing in front of him.
"I don't need to ask for permission to exist, dummy."
Dream gave Cross a concerned look at the way they jolted.
Cross sweats and grins.
"I like it. I just remembered something. Its fine."
Dream gave a dubious nod.
"Oh, alright. Well, I better go on patrol. Be good!"
Cross held in a sigh. He's not a kid...
"Sure thing, Dream."
Satisfied, Dream leaves.
"Mind filling me in? I've been asleep."
Cross shrugs, laying back on the sleeping bag.
"Stealing a weapon from Ink."
Chara's eyes practically bulged out of his ghostly sockets.
"We're doing WHAT? Have you completely lost it??? Wait. Don't tell me."
He pinched the bridge of their nose.
"This is a dream, right? I'm dreaming. You did NOT just go on a suicide mission."
Cross raised a brow, unamused.
"We got this far haven't we? And besides, Blue is covering our backs."
"And Blue is...?"
"Another-"
"-Sans. Right. Greeeaaat.... Like four of you weren't enough."
"A bit more like five and a half."
"Half?"
"Error does whatever he wants."
Chara nods, taking it all in.
"Fine. Whatever. Can I at least know what the weapon is?"
Cross starts explaining the situation and Chara was clearly not happy. Then again, when was he ever?
"So we're gonna take a weapon that kills things that shouldn't be able to die."
Cross shrugs again.
"Yup."
Chara sighs and sat on Dream's bed in Cross's mind.
"You have a habit of getting into trouble, you know that?"
Cross frowns, sobering up.
"......... I guess."
Chara made a pitiful attempt at a laugh.
"Need help?"
"This time, I probably do. This is Ink and the Star Sanses we're talking about."
Chara stares at the door, a hand to his face, thinking deeply.
Cross smiles.
"It's weird to hear you not make sarcastic comments."
The ghost boy rolls his eyes and waved it off.
"I'm not a preschooler, Cross. I've been an adult before."
The two sit in silence for a while before Chara got an idea.
"Alright, here's what we do. Ask Blue if Ink keeps his door locked, look for any ventilation system, look to see if you can use your magic to unlock it if all else fails."
He paused.
"Oh, and I can probably try and check whats behind the door if you stay close to it to make sure its inside."
Cross stared at him in a bit of surprise.
"What?"
"Er, nothing."
Chara glared.
"I'm smart."
Cross snorts, laughing good naturedly.
"I know."
Not believing him, Chara pouted.
"I am!"
"I know!"
Cross settled down, amused, before remembering how much he kind of missed that kind of bickering with Murder.
"What, you LIKE that guy?"
He shrugs.
"They grow on me."
"Like Nightmare grows on you?" The ghost teased.
Cross blushed hard.
"Wh-What?"
"Come on, it's obvious."
Cross frowns.
"What is?"
"That you, you know."
Chara smirks and makes a hand gesture for sex.
Cros screeched.
"STOP THAT!"
The door opened.
"Is everything alright in here???"
Dream seemed worried.
Cross nodded violently, face purple.
"Yesimfinepleasegoaway-"
Dream giggles.
"Alright, alright."
He leaves.
