Mothers and Mirrors and Memories Oh my!

The next morning, Sadie woke up. She surveyed her surroundings and figured that Minerva had brought her inside. She briefly wondered where Harry was before spotting Minerva. She gently stroked the cat beside her, causing it to open its eyes. It purred lightly and closed its eyes again. Sadie smiled amusedly at the thought of her mother purring as she carefully lifted the cat into her lap and petted it gently. That lulled Minerva right back to sleep.

Before long, it was time for breakfast. Thank goodness it was a weekend. Minerva reluctantly leapt off of Sadie and padded into the bathroom. There, she changed back into a human and made herself look more presentable as Sadie made the bed. When Minerva came out, she smiled sadly at Sadie, who was humming lightly as she worked.

"You really need to stop running off and making us come and find you during nightfall," she told the girl. Sadie looked up. One glance at the look on Minerva's face, and she knew the transfigurations Professor was just messing with her.

Minerva walked over to the bed and hugged her daughter. "I love you, Kitten. I hope you know that."

Sadie sighed and wrapped her arms around the woman's torso. "I do, and I love you, Mum."

At breakfast, Cedric just stared at Sadie intensely. She shifted uncomfortably. Cedric has an intense fire in his eyes. He signaled to her that they were going to talk later, and she couldn't turn him down. She gave him a small nod.

She had taken to sitting at the Head Table during weekend breakfasts, but she was only talking to Minerva. She knew Severus wasn't to blame for the day before, but she just couldn't bring herself to talk with the man. Fortunately for her, all he did for most of the meal was stare at the plate and move the food around, hoping he was fooling everyone. He really wasn't.

He and Lily had sort of had a row after Minerva had scolded them and stormed out. He went to bed feeling really guilty but also kind of satisfied and decently angry. Lily had gone who knows where, probably bawling her eyes out. He had finally vented all of his bitterness towards her and James's relationship and told her off for lying to him again. Needless to say, the potions Professor was basically blocking everyone out.

Before long, Sadie was finished with her meal. She gave Minerva a quick kiss on the cheek and exited into the hallway. Once she was out of sight of everyone, she quickly turned into a cat and scampered to the Marauder's Room. Cedric was waiting for her there. As soon as she was in, she cast a privacy charm so that the other three couldn't get in. Then, she turned back into a human.

"Sadie, what happened yesterday? You weren't in any of your classes! Then McGonagall sent a search party out to look for you and Harry," Cedric cried, scooping her up in a big hug.

Sadie smiled sadly. "I don't think I'm alright with explaining that just yet. If you really want to know, you'll just have to wait. Even though it's been a day and a night, I'm not sure I'm capable of explaining without breaking down."

Cedric was sympathetic. "That's alright. I can wait if it makes you uncomfortable."

They sat on the sofa and just cuddled for a while, Cedric playing with strands of Sadie's hair as they stared at the fireplace in front of them.

Suddenly, Sadie heard the other three of the Fantastic Four coming. She banished the charms, and she and Cedric quickly turned into cats and scampered out a back entrance. It lead to the grounds. As soon as they were out, they morphed back to human. Cedric threw his arm across Sadie's shoulders as they walked.

She sighed. "Well, I can tell you what happened yesterday if you promise to keep a secret."

Cedric nodded. "Of course, Sadie."
