This was it. The end. Perhaps the end of the war, perhaps the end of their lives. But it was ending, one way or another.

Tommy and Tubbo had spent the morning doing final preparations, unsure of what the day would hold. Jay spent the final hours in their home, alone. She pulled on her armor and headed out to the path. Everyone had agreed to stand to see the boys off, lining the path with friendly faces. She stood at the end, with Puffy and Sam to either side of her. They could probably sense her nerves, and it was nice to have people who supported her nearby.

As the two boys started down the path, stopping at each person there, Jay felt her worry grow. There were these two teenagers, far too young to be going through this, and they were headed off to what might be their deaths. Sam put a hand on her shoulder as the boys crept ever closer, comforting her ever so slightly.

As the boys reached her, they looked scared. Terrified. She felt her resolve break as she lunged forward and hugged both of them.

"Thank you, Jay." Tubbo whispered, squeezing tightly. Tommy nodded.

"For everything." He added.

Jay pulled back and placed a hand on Tommy's cheek.

"Come back home, alive please." She said. "I'll be waiting." She turned to Tubbo. "For both of you. Both of you better return or I'll chase your asses to the afterlife." She laughed softly, though something in her tone told them she wasn't joking.

"We will." Tubbo nodded.

And then they continued down the path. People began to slowly disperse, but Jay stayed there until they were out of sight, and then for a little longer after that.

She sat on the path until the sun was high in the sky, beating down on her. And Puffy walked up, helped her off the ground, and slowly guided her away.

Everyone was silent. The people who were around didn't speak, and if they did it was in hushed tones.

Jay headed to where she had planned to meet a bunch of them.

They didn't want to be alone if the worst happened.

She walked into the house, where Big Q, Sam, and Eret already were.

She sat with them, all in complete silence.

You could hear a pin drop.

Waiting for something.

The boys to return.

Burning and screams.

Death messages.

Anything.

Anything.

And then there was yelling out on the street.

They all exited the house to Punz and Sapnap running down the path, screaming.

"What's going on?" Eret asked, confused.

"Dream. We know what he's going to do. He's gonna trap them." Punz said quickly, breathing heavy. "He's gonna kill Tubbo. We have to go. Quick, come on." He said, then continued running.

Soon, the small group had turned into almost everyone in the city, running as quickly as they could towards wherever Punz was leading them.

They went through the nether and eventually found their way to a portal, hidden in a bunker. It was covered in dark black, almost purple, walls. They were strong, Dream thought of everything. Including this hidden and impenetrable fortress.

Punz seemed to know his way around, leading them around a few obstacles before they found a small opening.

"Okay, he may be expecting this. So as soon as we go in, someone get Tommy and Tubbo. He'll probably try to go for them first." Punz explained. And they all collectively stepped through the portal.
