"M-mom..."
"Sweetie", Mrs. Byun rushed towards her dumbstruck daughter frozen on her spot. She tightly held onto her, her life depends on it as the lady went and stare back at Chanyeol who had a genuine smile on his face. He nodded and went his way, noting that they would have some catching up to do after her years in America.
"What were you thinking when you ran away? Your father may be a piece of trash sometimes but he's still your father. You don't know how worried sick he was."
"Him? Worried? That's really new mom", she nonchalantly spoke. Mrs. Byun quickly took a breathe and thought of her words. Both took a sit opposite to each other to discuss further the topic at hand.
"Well, let me revise it then. I was worried sick when you came to the hospital. Why did you even get engaged in a car accident? I know it's in the past and you're well right now as I can see you standing in front of me but never do anything that reckless ever again", her mother fumed, blowing air towards her forehead.
"Yes ma'am!" Byung-soon saluted as she sat up straight from the sofa with a playful grin on her lips. Mrs. Byun shook her head at her daughter's behavior. It may have been years since she met with her physically yet the same Byung-soon lived in her making the mother glad.
"Seriously it was a serious discussion, why do you always play cheeky at wrong timings?" Byung-soon shrugged a smile outstretched her lips more than before.
"How is he treating you?"
"Hmm?"
"I meant Chanyeol, dear. How is he treating you?"
"He didn't do anything stupid, mom. If that's what you're asking. He may look dominant and possessive, but he's a sweetheart. He won't even let me wash the dishes unless you forced him to. You're ideal boyfriend to be exact."
"I should have been born years later to make me fit for his ideal."
"Mom! What the hell?"
"Kidding", Mrs. Byun flashed her infamous smile, her teeth showing as her eyes crinkled from the grin. Chanyeol came to them a little while later with two warm cups in both of his hands, the two women giggling after he happened to be near them. They thanked the man who smiled back at them after so, then he went back upstairs.
"By the way Byung-soon", the mother called slowly placing her cup back on the saucer set on the table.
"Yeah?"
"I know this is a lot to ask...", Mrs. Byun paused and looked at her daughter in who is staring intently right back her, "but can you come back home? At least for me?"
"Why? I don't think my presence is well valued in the house, especially dad who seems to only care about money", Mrs. Byun sighed in distress.
"Just once, please? I don't want havoc happening any time soon. After this, you may come back, as I can recall you looked much more comfortable in this place."
"The owner was heartwarming."
"I promise to bring you back here after the dinner."
"Dinner?"
"You see a colleague of your father invited us for dinner", Byung-soon gave a perplexed look.
"I don't see any reason that I must be within the table, mom."
"Cooperate just this once, please? We'll work it out in the end I know", her mother pleaded. Byung-soon had a bad feeling about this meeting taking place. Since when did her father need her presence desperately?
