That morning, Lexi Rabbit woke up to a light tock on her door. Still sleeping, she only answered with a muffled "come in", her face facing her pillow. The person behind the door still heard her and entered the bedroom.

"Good morning Miss Rabbit," the voice of her family's housemaid came from the doorway, polite and sweet. Lexi then heard footsteps cross her room to the other side and stop. "I hope you slept well."

Then came the blinding light and the young rabbit let out a whine. The housemaid, a pretty and very well-mannered sheep had just opened the windows, letting the bright morning sun make its way into the bedroom. She heard the calm waves of the sea and, farther in the distance, the busy noises of the city.
Lexi let out a sigh and gathered up the courage to at least sit on her mattress, rubbing the tiredness of her eyes.

"What time is it, Olga?" she asked the older woman in a yawn.
"9 o'clock," the sheep answered, opening the room's second window. "I woke you up at that hour just like you asked me yesterday."

Right, because today was very important, she remembered. Today's was the Acme University's cheerleading team's last training session before summer. Lexi and the other girls had been training for months on a choreography in case the university's basherball team qualified for the tournament's final game – which they did, and the boys would be facing Washington University in St. Louis right here, in Acmetropolis, in a week. So, it was important for the cheerleading team to show their best skills to entertain the public and encourage the basherball players on that important day.
With a kick, Lexi threw the sheets away from her. She sat on her bed, stretched her entire body with another yawn, then finally got up when she gathered enough courage to do so. Olga was pulling the pink and red cheerleading outfit her mother bought for her a few days ago from her huge closet. She gave it to the young rabbit when she approached.

"There, you can go wash while I prepare your breakfast."
"Thank you, Olga," Lexi answered before heading toward her door.

The bathroom was right next to her bedroom, so it only took her three steps to get there. From the modern, well-decorated big hallway, where accesses to three other bedrooms on each side, the biggest one being her parents' and one arranged for Olga ever since she'd been hired to take care of the villa, as well as a little office for her father. The only other bathroom was only accessible via her parents' bedroom.
Once she entered the bathroom, she got rid of her nightclothes and got in the bathtub. Once it was filled up with enough warm water, she washed her cream-colored fur from her pointy ears to her toes, singing one of her favorite songs under her breath. A few minutes after, she got up and drained the tub, then grabbed her towel and began to scrub all her body. She then took her clothes, put them on, and tied her ears with a pink ribbon like a ponytail, as she always liked to do. The outfit fitted her perfectly!
Lexi then brushed her teeth and added a fruity scented perfume. She hesitated when she looked at her face in the mirror, wondering if she should also use some make-up. It was only a training session, after all, but all the girls in the team took great care of their appearances. Not like Lexi didn't do the same, but she always was careful not to be too "extra". She already had enough trouble being fully accepted in the team as it was.

The rabbit decided to make up her mind after breakfast: right now, her belly was angrily rumbling to remind her she needed to eat. She left her nightclothes in the bathroom, knowing Olga would take care of them, and went to the kitchen, on the ground floor. Although the villa only had two levels, it was big in size and very futuristic looking. It also had a balcony with a view of the sea on the first floor and a huge terrace accessible from the kitchen. On the terrace was also built a swimming pool, and even Lexi thought it was a bit too much considering they lived on the coast. This fancy lifestyle was only made possible thanks to her parent's wealth, with her father, Upton Rabbit, being one of the biggest investors in Acmetropolis' growth and owning many properties, some being rented apartments and houses and others being offices building, and her mother, Ella Rabbit, owning a cosmetic firm that started in the city and grew from there until the brand became one of the most successful in America. So, yes, Lexi's family was indeed rich, if not the richest in Acmetropolis, and her parents were both well-known here. As for her, she also had her fair share of the spotlight all her life thanks to her parents' fame, but if you asked her, she would say she didn't care for that at all. In fact, it sometimes bothered her, although she couldn't exactly complain about her situation, seeing all the advantages Upton and Ella's wealth brought to her.

Lexi found her breakfast on the table, with two other plates Olga prepared for her parents and proceeded to eat all its content. Right when she took the first bite of her French toast, she heard steps approaching from behind.

"Good morning sweetie!" her mother greeted her, kissing her daughter on the back of her head.
"Slept well?" her father then asked, kissing her too on the cheek. Both parents then took place on the other side of the table. They were already dressed up for the day and ready to go to work.
"Yes, I had a very peaceful night," she replied. "Though I wouldn't have minded staying in bed a bit longer."
"That makes me think, today is your last training session with your team, right?" Upton asked after taking a sip from his coffee. "Do you have any ride to take you there?"
"Err... now that you mention it..."
"What about Marina?" Ella asked. "Didn't you say she will be there to watch you?"
"Yes, but her parents are gone for the weekend, so she's taking the bus to go to the multi-sports facility."

Marina Quack was her childhood friend; both met in elementary school and have been inseparable ever since. The girls always had each other's back, but Lexi thought Marina mostly took up the role of the protector in their duo.
If she was honest with herself, the young rabbit would say Marina was, in fact, her only friend. For some reason, other students – but mostly other girls – had a hard time accepting her presence. She tried to find the reasons why, if it had something with her look or her personality, but her best friend simply told her to ignore them because they were just jealous and not worth her time. Still, it bothered Lexi to not feel appreciated.

She chased the thought from her mind. Now was not the time to feel down: she had an important day ahead!

"Well, I guess we can drop you off on our way to work," Upton said, looking at the local news on the holographic screen produced by his multi-functional watch. Both Ella and Lexi had one too, and Lexi gave one to Marina on her last birthday. It was the latest model of the brand and came with lots of applications.

The cream-colored rabbit thanked her father and quickly ate her breakfast before grabbing her own watch that she left to recharge in the living room. Once she put it on her wrist, she looked at the time and saw it was already 9:45. She needed to be at the multi-sports facility by 10:30.
Thankfully her parents were quick to finish their own breakfasts and the three of them headed toward the black limousine parked in front of the villa, with its driver waiting for the Rabbit family standing next to it. He opened the door for them, and they all got in. The driver then took his place in the driver's seat and they exited the lot.

"Say Mom, do you have any make-up in your bag?" Lexi asked her mother. "I forgot to put some on me."
"Why yes! Here, take it," her mother answered, handing her a pink lipstick and a little box of bright eyeshadows.

Lexi began with the eyeshadows and choose a set of pink colors. She then put on the pink lipstick and looked at herself in the tiny, round mirror her mother used sometimes to look at herself.

"So... how do I look?" she asked her parents with a timid smile. In her opinion, she didn't look bad, but it was always nice to have some advice from others.

Ella was smiling brightly.

"Beautiful, sweetie!" she chimed, proud of her daughter.
"Careful, you might attract all the boys in the city," Upton jokingly said, and Lexi laughed.

However, the limousine soon found itself stuck in dense traffic, and they were still far from the multi-sports facility. The driver took the initiative to go through a shortcut to avoid any further jam on the road, but he couldn't go fast, and Lexi anxiously watched the time on her holographic screen. She finally saw the university's first buildings at 10:20, meaning they were close to their destination. Five minutes later, Marina sent a message, asking where she was, and that the training session was about to begin soon. Lexi responded she was nearly there.
The limousine finally stopped next to the sidewalk and Lexi jumped from the vehicle.

"I'll call when we're done!" she told her parents. "See you later!"

But right when she turned around, her head hit something hard and she yelped, baking off a little while pain spread on her forehead. Confused, she looked up and saw a grey rabbit, holding his jaw but looking concerned. She didn't even see him coming this way!

"I'm sorry!" they both blurted at the same time.
"No wait, I'm sorry," the grey rabbit, who was approximatively her age, objected, "I wasn't watching where I was going! Are you hurt?"
"I-I'm fine," Lexi replied, "just a bit stunned, that's all. What about you? I'm sorry, I didn't see you there!"
"Oh, nothing bad, don't worry! I guess we both need to be more careful with our surroundings, right?"

Despite the pain, she couldn't help but smile and nod. How weird she never met this guy before, yet if she was as young as she was, he should be at the university too, right? Maybe he was studying in another course. Economy and marketing weren't for everybody, after all.
But as she was thinking all of that, her mind suddenly screamed she was already late for the training and she gasped.

"Oops, sorry, I have to go!" she excused herself, taking off toward a building a few feet from them. "And sorry again!"

She didn't look back as she entered the multi-sports facility, her heart beating fast with adrenaline. Too bad she couldn't speak to him a bit more; he was kind of cute.
