When she realized what was happening, Lexi was already falling.
The ground gave away beneath her, just when the walls crumble down. The cream-colored rabbit felt her body being pulled all the way down by gravity. Her heart skipped a beat; she didn't scream; she couldn't even move. Everything was happening so fast and she had no time to react.

Yet, the simple thought of meeting her doom in this instant, and the sheer terror it woke up in her, is what saved her life. Lexi did not plan to die that day; and as the world literally crumbled down around her, as she closed her teary eyes and gritted her teeth, she felt a spurt of incredible energy going through her body, reaching her hands and burst all around her.
Her body stopped falling mid-air, nearly choking the air out of her lungs.
The sudden halt in her fall made her open her eyes. She looked down, wondering why she hadn't met the ground yet, and the rabbit strangled a surprised cry when she discovered she was floating in the air, a faint, pinkish light surrounding her frame as well as pieces of metal and cement around her, and to her relief, the janitor's still body. For a moment, Lexi forgot how to breathe, not daring to move an inch or make a sound in fear her telekinetic power would stop working and drop everything to the ground – and they were still very high in the air. The floating pieces of walls and ceiling also caught in her telekinetic ability formed some sort of bubble around them, shielding them against the rest of the collapsing building and the dusty cloud resulting from the destruction.

Lexi heard the faint sound of someone waking up and froze when she saw the janitor move like the whole event finally brought him out from his comatic state. He opened his eyes to see the rabbit looking at him strangely, then the pieces of the building floating around them, then the ground down below when he realized his body wasn't touching anything. Each time his eyes changed direction, they opened up even more until the poor man looked so distressed he could explode into a panic attack any moment now. Lexi prayed that it wouldn't happen, for fear it would deconcentrate her and made her lose control over her power.

"Oh, God..." the janitor breathed before he fainted once again.

Well... that made one less problem to take care of, though Lexi was sure the poor guy would not wake up smoothly after that.
Keeping her composure, the young girl slowly brought herself, the janitor, and whatever was left of the building that her telekinetic power caught to the ground, trying to ignore both the wreckage and the dust standing in the place of what used to be the science faculty and the panicked voices in her head whoever commented on what just happened or wondered what kind of witchcraft was occurring in front of them. Her feet finally reached the ground, then she carefully deposited the man a little farther from her position, and once she was sure he was out of harm, she let go of her hold on the ruins and they all fell down around her, lifting even more dust. Her body was trembling from head to toe, but she didn't know if it was from using her power on a large scale or if she was overwhelmed with emotions. One thing for sure, had she not activated her power when the building was crumbling down, she wouldn't be standing there, shaking uncontrollably but still being very much alive.

Paramedics and firefighters were running in her direction. Some took care of the janitor, but the rest were walking to her and Lexi didn't want to deal with them right now. They would check her up, but with what she just accomplished under thousands of eyes, many questions would also be asked, and she could already hear them loud in her head. And how would she be able to explain her superpowers? She only knew half of their origins, and who would believe her anyway?

"Miss, we need to take you out of here," the voice of one of the firefighters came to her ears, making her aware of how close they were.

"I-I'm fine," she mumbled. It was not convincing at all, but she could feel herself slowly entering a new panic attack like earlier – when she accidentally hurt Marina – and she stiffed when a hand caught her arm, trying to pull her away from the wreckage.
