"Why are we really in Mystic Falls?"

I had been home for less than 30 seconds, but the whole drive home from New Orleans gave me nothing but time to find a way to get answers.

"Your father got -"

"Don't give me the 'new job' bullshit, he had a good job back home," I yelled, seeing my mom get surprised at my outburst.

"Why are we really here?"

"I know this towns history. Vampires, witches, werewolves,"

I winced at the word 'werewolf'. Tyler had just triggered his werewolf gene and wasn't taking it well to say the least.

"I knew about Katherine Pierce, and once I put two and two together and translated her name.."

"So we moved here because you wanted to learn more about Katherine?" I asked.

"That's not the only reason, Tatiana,"

"Then why are we here?!"

"You and Elena are the Petrova sister doppelgängers, you needed to be in the same town,"

"Why?"

She didn't speak, looking behind me instead. I slowly turned around, seeing Klaus.

"Makes it a whole lot easier for me,"

I got into the kitchen as fast as I could, swinging open the knife drawer as Klaus appeared in the room with me.

"What a martyr you are," Klaus smirked.

"Tatiana, put the knife down," My mom said, coming into the room slowly as if any movement would trigger me.

"Y-you need a human, don't you?"

My hands were shaking, but
I pointed the knife towards my stomach. Derek burst into the room, his eyes widening at the sight.

"Tats, don't do this!"

There was a flash and in the blink of an eye I was in Damon's car.

"What the hell were you thinking?" He asked, driving off towards who knows where.

"I.." I couldn't think of anything that sounded remotely justifiable.

"He wouldn't be able to use me if I wasn't human,"

"He would still use Elena!"

I felt the guilt begin to pile up.

"I'm sorry,"

I didn't want anyone to be put in danger. Especially not Elena.

"You don't need to apologize to me." Damon said quietly.

"Maybe I was practicing.."

Damon rolled his eyes and for the first time today, a small smile came onto my face.

"Do you think I'd be a good vampire though?"

I was half joking, half being serious.

"I don't know, it all depends on what emotions of yours get heightened after transition,"

I thought of my current emotions that I felt most often; I really care about Damon, I never want to see the people I care about hurt..

"Where are we going?" I asked in a noticeable attempt to change the subject.

"Checking on Stefan and Elena,"

I nodded, looking outside. And then it hit me.

"Damon.."

"Yes?"

"My family.. they're sided with Klaus, even my mom,"

"Elena's family, we're family.."

I reached for his hand, lacing our fingers together and giving him a smile.

"You're right,"

---

"If your family is sided with Klaus, why didn't they give you up to him sooner?" Elena asked.

I sighed. "Because she wanted to give both of us up,"

"How did she... know I was in Mystic Falls?"

That was something I wondered. Why did she track down Elena and convince my dad to move here? Just to give us up to an original so he could use my blood for some sacrifice? Or was there an ulterior reason?

"I don't know," I replied.

"This is just too weird," Elena said, putting her face in her hands and sliding her fingers through her hair.

"You think?"

A loud crashing sound caught us both off guard, the two of us looking in the direction that it came from. I slowly walked towards the room, hearing Elena following not too far behind.

"What do you think that was?" I whispered, looking around the empty room.

"Hopefully not what we think it was,"

We were probably overreacting. But we had good reason to overreact; overreacting is the best thing we could do when we had an original wannabe hybrid after us... humans. Doppelgängers.

"Jer?" Elena called out into the silence.

"Yeah?" Jeremy shouted back. Elena sighed in relief. My phone started to ring, the contact reading "Chelsea", who was my old friend from Philadelphia.

"Hey," I answered.

"T-Tatiana?"

"Chels? What's wrong?"

It was very evident that something was wrong with her right now. She sounded.. scared.

"Klaus says 'next full moon',"

I almost dropped my phone, my mouth falling open out of shock. I heard the infamous laugh in the background and then Chelsea screamed, the phone falling to the ground with a very loud thud. And then the call ended.

"He killed her," I gasped, feeling the tears welling up.

"We need to go to him." Elena said, grabbing my shoulders.

"What? We're going to sacrifice ourselves?" I ask, wiping my eyes so I can actually see straight.

"Bonnie can try something, we won't die. But he'll think we did."
