A large, covered-up yawn came from Audrey, who's brown curly hair rested against my shoulder as she drifted off to a light sleep. I didn't move her, I let her rest there peacefully. She looked so much more innocent with her eyes closed like that. Her usual open, bright, green eyes gave her a sense of curiosity or alertness. Sometimes they were even sharp, like they're hiding her struggles I know she has.

I sprang one of her curls playfully get gently, not wanting to wake her. She stayed peacefully resting like that for maybe twenty minutes. I think she felt my stare or perhaps my twirling her hair because she turned a bit and her eyes fluttered open. She pulled back, her cheeks flashing a shade of red visible even in the dark theater.

"Sorry, I didn't even realize I started drifting--"

"Shhh..." I said, moving her back to the position she was in before. I wanted her to stay peacefully sleeping, I wanted to enjoy her quiet, peaceful presence. I wanted her restfulness.

Audrey hesitantly allowed me to place her head back on my shoulder. She stayed there but didn't fall asleep. Her eyes tried to stay closed before they opened and wandered off to the big screen. Her eyelids drooped down relaxed and not as alerted as they can often be. She looked up at me, my tall self distancing me from her. Audrey looked up at my face, and stared...admiringly? She studied my face, looking up my neck, inspecting me. It was so...attractive. Did this mean she felt the way I did? Did I make everything go quickly? Was she uncomfortable?

I told myself to not let this happen because she probably wouldn't feel the same way as me, but I didn't want her to stop. I mean, I had to remember that we're friends. I was probably being creepy. I was almost...addicted to being with her and talking with her. Even the few times we talked on the phone or texted or met randomly at the Music Store, I just always enjoyed being with her. But she's only a freshman... So much for "treat her like a guy"...
