Shade slowly woke to the concerned faces of Velkhana, Valomyr, and Namielle. Shade weakly righted himself, and nearly collapsed in pain. Shade had forgotten about his newly severed forearm. "Wh-what happened?" Shade said. "Queen emerald tore your forearm off, and you passed out." Valomyr said. "Where's Queen emerald?" Shade said. Shade looked around, trying to find the creature that robbed him of a normal life. "She ran away. We tried to chase her down, but she burrowed underground." Velkhana said. "Am... am I going to die?" Shade said. Namielle crouched to meet Shades gaze. "No, you probably won't." Namielle said. "By the way Namielle, I would like to thank you." Shade said. "Oh? Thank me for what?" Namielle said, tilting her head. "I want to thank you for being there for me. Even after all I put you and your friends through, you still had hope for me. If it weren't for you, I probably would have spent the rest of my life believing Queen emeralds lies." Shade said. "Don't worry about that, I'm sure you probably had good intentions." Namielle said. "So.... friends?" Shade said, extending his remaining forearm. "Friends." Namielle said, extending her wing to touch Shades forearm. After a moment, Shade retracted his forearm. He hooked his destroyed cloak onto his forearm, and removed it. He stared at it, as if he were gazing into a pool of memories he wanted to forget. After a minute of looking at his shredded, white, cloak, he crawled over to a nearby tree, and hung his cloak on a tree branch, letting it blow in the cold mountain winds. "It is about time I leave my past behind me, and live my life, the way I wanted to." Shade said. Shade turned to face the three elder dragons he now considered his friends. Shade suddenly heard the sound of something bursting from the earth. Shade looked up in horror as Queen emerald burst from the ground, leaping into the air. "LOOK OUT!" Shade yelled. The three elder dragons turned around just in time to be swatted away by Queen emerald. Shade put two and two together, and realized that Queen emerald must have fled in order to execute a surprise attack. Shade tried to flee, but he was swiftly pinned down by Queen emerald, crushing the spike on his back in the process. Shade glared angrily at the seltas queen, seeing nothing but pure madness in her eyes. Shade figured that the destruction of her army and her appearance might have driven her to insanity. "You.... YOU took away my VICTORY!!!!" Queen emerald shrieked. "I did nothing of the sort!" Shade snarled. "Oh really?" Queen emerald sneered. "Yes, you brought this upon yourself. You've lost Queen emerald." Shade said, glaring into the remaining eye on Queen emeralds melted, charred, face. "After everything I did for you, you throw away your life for three idiotic morons, and a half-bred Xeno'jiiva?" Queen emerald snarled. "Those "morons" you speak of are my friends. They treated me like I was one of them." Shade hissed. "You are not one of them. You are no elder dragon. You are just a pathetic nerscylla, asking to be crushed!" Queen emerald growled. "That is where you are wrong. I may not be as powerful as a god, like them. But that doesn't matter. What matters is that you were holding me back for the entirety of my life, just to do your dirty work." Shade said. Queen emerald pressed her leg down on Shade, nearly crushing him. "Insolent fool! I will tear you limb from limb!" Queen emerald shrieked. Shade chuckled. "Do it then. I would rather die then spend another minute with you." Shade said. Shade closed his eyes as he prepared for his death. Just as Queen emerald was about to crush his skull however, Namielle flung herself into Queen emerald, causing her to stumble. Queen emerald threw Namielle off her face, sending her flying into Velkhana and Valomyr. Queen emerald then swatted Shade into the elder dragons, and stood over them. "Very well. If you will join them.... THEN YOU WILL DIE TOGETHER!!!" Queen emerald screamed. Queen emerald raised her leg to crush the weakened monsters. Suddenly, Queen emerald let out a pained scream as she stumbled backwards. The four monsters looked behind her to see the baby Xeno'jiiva inhaling a blue light into his mouth that seemed to come from Queen emeralds body. Shade took this chance to grab Queen emerald, and begin stabbing her wounded leg with his remaining forearm. The Xeno'jiiva hatchling suddenly stopped inhaling the blue light, causing Queen emerald to freeze. Queen emerald stumbled backwards towards a cliff, resulting in both Shade and Queen emerald careening over the edge, falling into the abyss. Namielle had a horrified look on her face as her new friend fell to his apparent doom. After minutes of the three elder dragons looking at the spot that Shade once stood from, Namielle sank to the ground, tears beginning to flow from her eyes. Namielle lowered her head, trying to hide her face as she mourned her friend. Valomyr walked up to Namielle, and slowly put his wing on her. "Do not worry. Shade sacrificed himself to save us all." Valomyr said. Namielle looked up at Valomyr. "Yes, I'm grateful that he did. I will never forget him." Namielle said. Namielle suddenly embraced Valomyr in a fierce hug, tightly wrapping her wings around him. Velkhana approached her friends, with the Xeno'jiiva hatchling resting on her back. "I hate to interrupt your grieving, but I suggest we keep moving." Velkhana said, with the Xeno'jiiva hatchling nuzzling her back. Valomyr and Namielle nodded, and began to follow Velkhana out of the mountain forest. Namielle took one last look at the spot where her friend once stood. "Goodbye Shade." Namielle said to herself, and turned around to follow her friends out of the forest.
Queen emerald weakly got up off the ground, green blood pooling around her. Her remaining eye looked to see Shade on a ledge on the cliff, most likely unconscious. Queen emerald attempted to get up, only to fall back onto the ground, noticing that three of her four legs were mangled and broken. Queen emerald began to drag herself across the bottom of the ravine, trying to find an entrance tunnel to jade colony. She soon found herself dragging herself into jade colony, having found the entrance tunnel. However, what Queen emerald saw, broke what was left of her soul. Jade colony was burning. All of the seltas in the colony were dead. Queen emerald was about to scream in futile rage, when she suddenly saw something standing near her. Queen emerald looked up to see a large elder dragon. The elder dragon was leaking tar from his skin and his mouth. "Hello..." the abomination said, tar gurgling as it spoke. "You.... you destroyed my colony! Why!" Queen emerald weakly said. "You..... fail..... Alatreon....." the monster said. Queen emerald shook her head in disbelief. "How.... how could he do this, after everything I did for him!" Queen emerald snarled. "You... not..... useful....... anymore..." the creature said. Queen emerald began to notice that the creatures chest had begun to glow. Queen emerald then understood that this creature was sent by Alatreon to kill her for failing him. "Wait... don't! Please give me another chance! I can kill them for Alatreon! I'll do anything, PLEASE DONT HURT ME!!" Queen emerald screamed. "Die....." the creature said. Queen emerald could only watch as the abomination that stood before her proceeded to fire a beam of flaming oil at Queen emerald. The seltas queen screamed as her body quickly caught on fire. The creature had a jagged grin of pleasure spread across his face as he watched the seltas queen being burnt alive. He began to emit a hideous laugh, as the seltas queen finally fell silent, her corpse slowly burning away. The creature calmed down, and stomped on the incinerated corpse of Queen emerald, crushing her. The gogmazios stomped out of the ruined colony, his orders completed. The behemoth smiled, knowing that Alatreon would be pleased with his work.
