Brook's P.O.V
Heading out the door to the bakery I turn the opposite way from the park and toward the campus. My penny board glided across the smoothed cement until something jerks me forward making me fall face first onto the sidewalk.
"Need some help?" a thick Irish accent snaps me out of my pain and a hand reaches out.
"Uhh t-thanks." I grab the hand reaching out. I look at the ground as soon as I'm balanced not coming in contact with the figure, but just by his voice I can tell who it is.
"Be careful next time." I can feel his smile. "Have a nice day." I hear footsteps trudge away and finally look up.
I grab my board and head towards the woods surrounding the campus. My feet have been walking for what seems like hours. I stop at the sight of the liquid. I sit myself on the giant rock overlooking it. My toes skim the top of the water and it ripples beneath me. I inhale a sharp breath and push the memories back, far back in my head. Happy memories are sad once they're gone. My eyelids flutter shut as the cold water reaches my ankles. I lift them out quickly and put my knees to my chest. This will be my spot. To think, to cry, to yell. Slipping my Converse on, I start heading back to my dorm.
I jiggle my key into the lock turning the doorknob. I plop onto my small bed ignoring the 'company' my roommate has.
"Hey." a voice calls. I sit up and turn my body toward the voice, seeing red hair in the conner of my eye.
"Hi." My voice comes out as a squeak.
"I'm Liz by the way, sorry I haven't introduced myself sooner, I'm a busy person." She says and sends a smile toward me.
"I'm Brook. Nice to meet you, and it's okay I get it, I am too." I send back a small smile to try to cover my lie. I've been here all day and every day.
"These are my friends. Liam, Louis, Zayn, Perrie, and Niall." at the sound of the familiar name I look up making direct eye contact which I always try to avoid on any occasion.
"Hi." I give all of them a small wave. They stare at me blankly.
"We should go, I smell the geek stench coming off of her. It's stinking up the room." I stare up at the blue eyes as he rises and heads toward the door. I part my lips as if I'm going to say something back.
I can't say that I'm surprised by his words I've gotten far worse, but I am a little surprised by who said them.
"Would you like to join us?" Liz questions. I hear a laugh escape from Niall.
"Her?" He laughs harder. Just for his reaction I take a second to question to go or not just to prove a point, but I decide against it, I'm tired from walking and I just want to relax.
"I-I'm g-good. Maybe next time?" I question and focus on Liz not the people judging behind me.
"Of course have fun!" She gives me a smile before closing the door shut behind her.
I feel bad for misjudging Liz but not Niall. What the hell was that? After the coast is clear I let out a big breath I didn't even know I was holding in. I spend the rest of the night studying and watching Netflix on my laptop before falling into a deep sleep.****************************
