Chapter 4
An uncovered Lie
As I walked through the woods I realized they looked much different during the day than they do at night. The night I had confronted Jake the woods were cold, menacing, and cruel. But today with the sun shining, the birds chirping, and the autumn wind blowing it was peaceful; it almost made me think I was in the wrong place. But then those thoughts disappeared when I caught the familiar scent of lilies. Soon I was back in the clearing. The lake was even more beautiful in the daylight. But something else caught my eye. It looked like a run down hunter cabin. I walked through the thresh hold to find the floor of the cabin littered with leaves and trash, most likely brought in by wild animals. In the corner of the cabin there was a hole in the floor. I cautiously walked towards it there were stone steps leading into the dark. Normally I wouldn't have gone near those steps even if I have the US army behind me, but I came here for answers didn't I? As I slowly walked down those steps I heard a low groan and I almost jumped out of my skin. I kept walking and I heard a noise like chains moving across the floor. "Please....help." Who ever it was was weak I rushed forward into the darkness. Little did I know there was a door separating me from this person until I ran face first into it. I tried pulling on the door but it wouldn't open. I kept pulling until the door flung open sending me falling flat on my back on a cold stone floor. The wind was knocked right out of my lungs. It took me a moment before I could regain my breath and stand. When the door opened the room I was in was cast into the light. In the bright room there laid a bloody body. I ran into the room and dropped to my knees next to them. "Are you ok?" The boy looked up and I almost screamed. It was Jake...but it wasn't this person had bright blue eyes and blond hair,he didn't have and piercings or a tattoo on his neck yet this persons face belonged to Jake. "Please help me...before he comes back." His voice was weak and hushed. "Who is he?" The guy looked up into my eyes. "Arron, he will be back at night fall." I looked around the room until I saw the source of light. It was a flood light it seemed to be running on batteries. "What's your name?" He was starting to pass out. "Jake." His words were short and faint. "I'll get you out of here I promise. I'll be back soon with help." I was about to leave the room when he caught me by my wrist. "Don't come back until tomorrow, he'll get here before you come back today." I just nodded then walked out of the room closing the door behind me. I ran through the woods with tears in my eyes. It was true Jake,Arron, or what ever his real name was was a dangerous person. I needed to be around people before I completely broke down. I went to the skate park hoping to get sometime on one of the ramps if I could borrow a board from someone. Instead of skating peacefully I ended up running into Jake at the skate park and following him. He was walking into the middle of town. After a few shops he ducted into a dark alley way. I followed him but there was no sign of him. Suddenly I was pulled roughly into a doorway. "Why are you following me!?" His voice sounded more like a growl. "Because you hurt him!!!" I couldn't control myself anymore. I struggled against him but it was pointless. He was stronger than me. "What are you talking about?" His eyes analyzed my face. "You hurt Jake and left him in that cellar!!!" A sudden look of sorrow passed over his face. "No..." His words were soft and gentle it stunned me. He turned his face away from me. A sudden pang of guilt hit me. With out warning he let go of me and began walking away. "He isn't Jake I am." I was speechless. As I walked home a dull pain started in my side. As I walked on it grew stronger, soon I could barely hold myself up. By some miracle I got myself home. The last thing I remember before blacking out is my door closing behind me. The pain was to much it was as if I was being torn apart. Even the icy grip of unconsciousness I felt the pain.
