Chapter 5
Never Leave Me!
I was amazed that I lived through the night. I woke up to a beautiful morning but the pain hadn't stopped ...still. The only reason I was able to get off of my bed room floor was that I had gotten strangely used to the pain. I stumbled to band practice dreading having to see Jake's face. But I needed to do something to get my mind off the pain and the band was all I had. The second I stepped into the garage and caught glimpse of Jake the pain stopped entirely. I was a bit confused but mostly relieved. After practicing for 3 hours we call it quits. Once everyone was out of sight I found my way to the woods. After a few paces the pain came back. Finally I made it to the clearing and found myself in the cellar. "Jake I'm back I brought a knife to cut the ropes around your hands." I walked into the room and found him lying there the same way I had left him. "hurry... Arron is coming I know it." I began cutting at the ropes tightly wrapped around his wrists the second his hands were free I heard a noise behind me.I turned to see Arron/Jake coming into the room. "Sam what are you doing!!!" His eyes held anger and defeat. The guy I had just cut loose stood up and pulled me into his arms but it wasn't a loving gesture. "See Jake I told you I would win." I was beyond shocked what had I done. If Jake was really Jake than the guy holding me must have been Arron. Arron pulled the pocket knife out of my hand and brought it to my throat. "Arron leave her alone." Jake's voice surprised me he didn't seem to hate me anymore. And for some reason Jake was the cure for the pain whenever I was in the same room with him it stopped. "Jake I'd rather not remember you can't kill me." With out another word Arron cut a deep line into my throat and pushed me towards Jake. "You've got a few minutes before she bleeds out. What you gonna do lil bro?" Arron walked out leaving me in Jake's arms. "Don't worry Sam I'll fix you up...But it's going to hurt." He held his hand over my neck and the flesh began to burn how was he doing this. After a few brief moments I passed out. When I woke up I wasn't in the cellar anymore I was somewhere completely different I had bandages wrapped around my throat. I sat strait up and looked around the room I almost jumped out of my skin when I saw Jake sitting in a chair across the room staring at me. "Now that I'm not dying do you hate me again." My voice shocked me it was quiet and harsh it was barely a whisper. "Don't talk. I didn't heal your neck I only stopped the bleeding." He got up and walked towards the bed but stopped about a yard away. "And no I don't hate you...never did." I must have looked like such a moron since I wasn't expecting him to say that at all my jaw dropped and my eyes probably looked like dinner plates. He smiled very briefly but then his face hardened again. "Sam what I'm about to tell you you're not going to believe and you might even hate me, but I have to tell you either way." He came and sat on the edge of the bed near my feet. "I'm not human. I'm a vampire." Fear rose in my heart I went to get out of the bed but Jake's hand wrapped around my ankle holding me in place. "Don't worry I'm not going to hurt you.I'll even move back to the chair if you promise to listen." His voice was soothing and gentle but I still wasn't calming down. I finally nodded in agreement and Jake moved back to the chair he was in. "Sam I'm not just some normal vampire either. I'm the Avid. Long story short I'm destined to end some war and rule over all vampires for eternity. Sort of corny I know but true and your the other avid." I was shocked he had to be lying. I jumped up from the bed and ran out of the room I only ran a few yards down the hall when the mysterious pain set in and brought me down to my knees. I could hear Jake approaching and the pain went away. "Never leave me and you'll never feel that pain again." His breath was cold as he whispered those words into my ear.
