Chapter 9
Full Moon
"Sam...wake up." Jake's voice brought me out of my sleep. I opened my eyes to see him looming over me. "It's time to go." His voice was quiet and gentle. He picked me up and carried me through an opening in the cage. He dropped to the ground and kept walking the second his feet touched the ground. The impact from the fall had no effect on him. Even though he had told me I needed to wake up I soon fell asleep in his arms. He carried m down countless halls until finally he walked out large French doors into the early morning sun. I almost instantly perked up I hadn't seen the sun in awhile. Although it was only a few that I had been in that cage it felt like years. I told you I wasn't good at the isolation thing. Jake put me down and walked me to his car. The second I laid my eyes on it i couldn't move. It was a 2011 Shelby Cobra, it was completely black with red racing stripes. I had always loved these cars. "Come on get in we don't have a lot of time." Jake smiled and opened the door for me to get in. I slid in to the seat and Jake closed the door. The entire interior of the car was pitch black the seats felt like velvet because they weren't leather. Jake was in the drivers seat in a matter of seconds. "Where are we going?" He turned the key and headed down the long driveway. "Do you know what to night is?" I shook my head no. "It's the full moon." Jake's words hit me like a dagger in the chest. If it was a full moon it meant I had been in that cage for nearly a month. I was silent while Jake drove down the long roads in the middle of the woods some where. " Tonight I have to turn you." His words shocked me. "No! I don't want to be turned." He looked at me for the first time since we left the old house I had been held in. "Sam do you know what will happen to you if I don't turn you tonight?" I looked at him and shock my head no yet again. " If I don't turn you tonight your avid power will spread to your heart and begin ripping you apart not even I can stop that pain. Your body is to fragile for the avid power right now. Once your a vampire you will be able to handle the power with out a problem." I was beyond over whelmed. Why hadn't he told me this before? "Why tonight though?" He looked at me. "Since your not a vampire yet you aren't fueled by the moon instead it weakens you. That way when I kill you to turn you your avid power wont kill you for good it will be to weak. Once your a vampire your body will adjust and your power wont be weakened by the moon instead it will be advanced." I was to shocked to say anything. I closed my eyes and imagined I was back at home in my bed nice and warm not worrying about some guy who was going to kill me later. But these thoughts were soon interrupted by the sudden thought of Jake. What was he to me? A friend or an enemy? One minute I hated him the next i couldn't live with out him. I needed to figure out which one was real and which one was my hormones talking. "You know once your a vampire you wont be as confused anymore. Vampires are much better than humans at controlling their emotions." I didn't know what to say so I just stared at him until he looked over at me. "Oh...I guess I shouldn't read your mind with out asking." He smiled and turned his attention back to the road. After 4 hours of driving Jake pulled up to a small house. He came and opened my door for me. The second I stepped out of the car someone had me in a tight hug. It took me a moment to realize it was Alex. I hugged him back. Then I was lead into the house by a woman seemingly in her mid-forties. While Jake and Alex walked off into he woods. "Hello my name is Kathy." I nodded. I know it was rude not to introduce myself but I was far to uncomfortable to remember my manners. "Okay follow me you need to get dressed maybe even get something to eat." Once again I just nodded and followed her up a flight of stairs. "Okay I'll leave you be to change your clothes are right there on the bed." I nodded,again, and she went to leave the room but turned around one last time before closing the door. "Sam don't worry about being nice I know your nervous...so was I when I was turned." I smiled and said thank you. She then left and I began getting dressed. There were black skinny jeans, a deep red T-shirt, a black vest, black boots that went over my jeans and a cape. The cape was beautiful. It was black on the outside but the inside was deep red. It had a hood and it was held closed by a amulet on the side. Once I was done getting dressed I sat down on the bed with the cape in my lap. I almost jumped out of my skin when I heard a knock on the door. "Come In." My voice shook. Then Alex came into the room and sat down next to me. "How you doin?" He was concerned I could tell. "Just a bit nervous." He smile and nodded. "Sam there is something I gotta tell you...I'm your brother. And I mean it your father was a vampire...and well I'm your half brother." I sat there with a look of utter bewilderment. I didn't say a word I just through my arms around Alex's neck and hugged him. We talked for hours about simple things until Kathy came back. "It's time." Alex nodded and helped me up. We walked out through the woods. I was shocked to see so many people in the clearing. But something caught my attention. At the front of all the people was a table made of stone. It glistened in the dim night light. Then there was Jake standing at the side of the table. His eyes called me forward. Alex lead me through the crowd of people. The second I made it to the table and took my place next to Jake the moon came over the clearing and hi the table. A bunch of gems hidden in the dark now glittered like they were on fire. "You ready?" I had no idea what Jake was going to do but I nodded and before I knew it I was laying on the table with Jake looming over me. " It's time." Someone's voice lifted over the crowd and Jake lightly lifted me into his arms. His mouth came to my neck and I waited I knew what was coming. His breath was cold and still then with out warning his fangs sunk in deep and he began to drink. The pain was terrible I clung on to is shirt to keep from screaming. He was taking away my life he was taking away every breath and every drop of living blood flowing through my system. Then when I thought the pain couldn't get any worse I felt a cool liquid on my neck. It had to be venom because in a matter of moments it felt like I had liquid fire going through my veins. I screamed out in agony and my head fell to the side. I was shocked at what I saw. My arms was pale white and my hair was no longer short it was now really long and flowed over the stone table. Jake pulled away and placed me back down on the table. He wiped away my blood from his mouth and looked down at me. It was then when I died I knew it. The beat of my heart had faded away a long time ago and I had stopped breathing. Now my body was perfectly still, and my soul was fighting to be free but something was holding me down. Suddenly my eyes opened and I had a sweet wonderful taste in my mouth I sat up and looked at Jake. He was right when your a vampire your feelings are a lot clearer. He caught my gaze and almost instantly kissed me. His lips were cold and sweet,as we kissed the crowd cheered. But this moment of pure happiness was soon brought to an quick halt. The crowd began to scream and scatter in multiple directions. I jumped off the table and stood at Jake's side. We looked across the clearing and saw a group of people coming out. They smelled terribly it made me want to puke and soon I became light headed, but before I could get sick a certain sense set into my body and froze all my muscles and a low growl escaped my lips. My skin was burning with a taste for blood I almost screamed when i finally realized I wanted to kill them. "Get behind me." Jake's voice was low and wild. I glance at his face and it held no emotion. I looked towards the group as they came closer. I almost instantly recognized Arron. He had an ugly grin on his face. "Wow I'm shocked you lived, I cut your throat pretty deep." As he said these words I felt my anger flare and my fang burst through my jaw. Jake held my arm keeping me from jumping forward. "Arron,I'm going to kill you." Jake's voice was more of a growl. What was he going to do? He couldn't possibly take the whole group even with my help there were at least 20 of them.
