Short Ranpo's P.O.V.

I picked up the phone once more, dialing the number to reach Poe. Once again my attempt went in vain. He's been ignoring me for two weeks now and I don't have the slightest clue why. Not even a great detective, such as myself, could figure this one out. He didn't leave me with any clues... Or did he?

Thinking back to that night outside of the Detective Agency, Poe seemed tensed. His cheek was burning when I touched it to get the cookie crumbs off. He also closed his eyes. I shake my head ruling out the possibility of him being sick. Sure enough if he was sick he would've stayed home that day.

"Any luck contacting him?" The suicidal maniac said while passing my desk holding another grim book about suicide.

I shake my head again, "I am beginning to think he is deliberately ignoring my calls." I picked up the phone once more, dialing his number in hopes he would pick up this time.

Dazai sets the stacks of paper down onto Kunikida's desk. I could feel his gaze was upon me while I made the call. Just like the other times, it went straight to voicemail. "Hey Poe, it's me Ranpo, give me a call back whenever you have the chance. Bye." I put the phone back down.

I slammed my hands onto the desk, standing up in the process. Atsushi happened to walk in at that very moment. "Atsushi.~" I called out to him. "Will you be so kind as to take me to the graveyard please?"

Atsushi tensed up, "But I just got here..."

I come around the desk and walked up to him, "Which makes you the exact man for the job." I pat his shoulder. "Shall we go then?" I take ahold of the boy's tie to drag him out from the Agency.

************

The walk from the Agency to the Graveyard felt like it took forever even though it's a 35 minute walk. I guess the concern for my competitive friend made time go by slower. Upon arrival, I ushered Atsushi to go away. I didn't want the Weretiger asking questions while I was looking for Poe. That could give my position away.

I walked around the graveyard, passing Odasaku's grave in the process, until I found who I was looking for. Poe was sitting there in a unmarked/unclaimed patch of grass with his book on his lap. I crouched down beside a near by bush to watch him.

I couldn't help but notice that his skin was paler than normal. Could he have gotten sick over these two weeks?Minutes go by as I watched him sit there writing away in his book. Karl pops out from behind a tomb stone next to Poe. Damn raccoon ratted me out by running up to Poe and pointing my direction. "Shit-" I immediately yeeted myself into the bush.

Poe's P.O.V.

I looked at my frantic furry friend pointing at a bush, "What is it Karl? Did you see something?" The trash panda nodded his head. I stand up, nearly toppling over due to the uneven ground, and walked over to the bush with Karl walking behind me. I wanted to believe Karl only saw a ghost or some nosy little kid, but no, he saw my rival Ranpo.

My cheeks started to burn up. I take a step back. I held my book close to my beating heart as Ranpo gets out of the bush covered in leaves and dirt. I stand there frozen, staring down at my feet.
Ranpo, why? Why come here of all places? Did not answering your calls made you that worried?

I immediately turned on my heel and sprint walked away from the man before he could even say anything. I had to get out of there. I sensed a presence behind me. He was following me. There's no where to run or hide from someone of his great detective skills. The only thing I can do is keep walking and try to loose him. He's bad with directions so it might be easy.
