Darby's POV
I pace around my apartment, waiting for April to show up. She agreed to come over, but now I'm sort of having second doubts. What if she thinks I'm nuts? What if she laughs at me and leaves? She's gonna think I'm weird and not want to be my friend anymore. She's-
Before I can continue my mental panic session, April knocks on the door. I take a deep breath, then let her in.
"Hey, Darby. What's up?" April asks and I feel my nervousness start to fade. April's too nice and understanding to feel nervous around. She has a way of calming your nerves.
"I..I need to show you something. Just promise me you won't freak out or think I'm crazy?" I ask and April looks at me, confusion etched on her face.
"Sure, I promise. What do you need to tell me? You didn't commit a crime, did you?" she says and laughs after she says the last sentence.
"No, nothing like that. I, uh...saw something. On the news earlier." I tell her and grab my iPad. Lucky for me, the news channel posted the video on their website. I pull up the video, press play, and hand the iPad to April.
As the video reaches the part where I saw the creatures, I pause the video and look at April.
"Ok, now watch behind the officer they interview. Look closely, though, 'cause it happens really quick." I tell her and play the video again. The creatures in the video jump across the rooftops, and the video ends. April pales and hands the iPad back to me.
"Did you see it?" I ask and she avoids eye contact with me.
"Uh...nope! I didn't see anything! Well, thanks for inviting me over, Darby, but I've gotta go study for our math test tomorrow. Bye!" April says and runs out of the apartment. I stare after her.
"Huh, weird." Then I remember something that makes me run after April.
"We don't have a math test tomorrow!"
A/N wooh! Two in one night! Maybe I'll even do a third...after I finish this English homework.
