A/N yes that pic on the side is a real NYC hospital...that's the one Casey and Darby are taken to

Darby's POV

Casey and I pull up to the hospital, still sitting in the back of the police car. Officer Hannigan parks the car then turns around to look at us.

"Do you two think you need to go the ER, or do ya feel well enough to wait a little?" he asks and I answer for Casey and I.

"I think we can wait. There's definitely people in worse shape than us." I respond and Officer Hannigan leads Casey and I into the hospital's non-emergency waiting room. He goes and checks in with the receptionist, then sits next to Casey and I. I pull out my phone and go on a fanfiction app I have, Wattpad, while Casey pulls out his and looks up the latest hockey game scores. He wraps his arm around me in a friendly way and I lean into him. Officer Hannigan looks at us with an amused smirk and a raised eyebrow.

"So how long have you two been dating?" he asks and instead of getting really embarrassed, Casey and I just laugh.

"Nah, just best friends since diapers." Casey responds and I nod. Officer Hannigan smiles.

"That's a pretty good friendship ya got there." he says and Casey and I nod. Just then, a doctor walks into the waiting room and reads a clipboard.

"Casey Jones and Darby Manchester?" the doctor calls and Casey, Officer Hannigan and I stand up.

"Ah, Officer Hannigan, good to see you again!" the doctor says and he and Officer Hannigan shake hands.

"Hey, Doctor Visago. Good to see you, too." Officer Hannigan says and the doctor leads us into a examination room down the hall from the waiting room.

"Ok, can you two please sit on the table?" Doctor Visago asks and Casey and I obey. The doctor examines Casey first, and luckily, he only has cuts and bruises, but the worst one is the cut on his forearm from the katana. But the doctor puts some disinfectant on it and wraps it up in a white bandage.

Then he moves on to me.

"Young lady, it looks like your left ankle is broken." Doctor Visago says and I tilt my head in confusion.

"What? How is it broken? I didn't feel any pain...but a Foot ninja did grab my ankle and pull me down fire escape stairs."

"He probably grabbed it harder than you thought. The adrenaline of the moment probably numbed your pain." Doctor Visago says and prods my ankle lightly. I feel pain shoot up my leg like needles, and I bury my head into Casey's shoulder, trying to hide my tears.

"Well, it's not too bad. We'll put you in a cast and give you crutches. It'll only be for a month, at the least. What color cast would you like?" Doctor Visago asks.

"Red, please." Hey, if I gotta have a cast it's at least going to be my favorite color.

~About an hour later~

I'm sitting in the examination room with Casey, waiting for our families. Suddenly, I hear my mom's voice from down the hall.

"Hi, I'm here for my daughter, Darby. Where is she?! Is she ok?!"

Yup. That's my mom, all right. I hear footsteps speeding down the hall and in a nanosecond, my mom bursts into the examination room with the rest of my family and Casey's family.

"Darby Arabelle Manchester, what on Earth happened?" my mom asks as she sees my cast.

And yes, my initials are DAM. Shut up.

"Why don't we get out of here and then I'll explain it to you?" I suggest and my mom agrees. Casey and I are signed out but before we leave, Officer Hannigan comes up to Casey and I.

"Heading home, kids?" he asks. I nod, then introduce Officer Hannigan to our families.

"Well, you have me on speed dial in case anything like this ever happens again, right you two?" Officer Hannigan asks Casey and I and we both nod and wave our phones. Our families thank Officer Hannigan and we leave the hospital. As we walk out, I lean towards Casey.

"This is gonna be a long trip home."
