Chapter 8: A trial of misfortune

*1 week later*

*Sonia POV*

It had been a full week of sharing a house with Tanaka and Souda, it was mostly pleasant except for the screams of Kazuichi in the night and then the angered puffs from Gundham. Both Kazuichi and Gundham were sharing a room and I could tell that a particular animal breeder was not pleased about Kazuichi even being in the same building as him but seen as the school has been refurbished and equipped with more fire safety courtesy of the ultimate firefighter. We were told that before classes resumed there would be a memorial assembly for the 2 students that died in the fire, their names were Hifumi Yamada and...

"Mahiru Koizumi" Jin Kirigiri announced in the assembly.

Hearing those words sent silence throughout the whole gym except for the held back sniffles of Hiyoko. We had a couple minutes of silence to commemorate to our fallen friends, even though I was never really close to either Hifumi or Mahiru I would always put my fellow classmates before myself.

As people began to stand up the principal stopped them saying he had another announcement "Take a look at your fellow classmates and tell me who isn't here" The principal looked down at us squirming trying to find all of the faces we recognised "Miss Sonia thank god you're still here, me and Gundham were looking for you!" Gundham simply looked away and puffed but I saw a tint of red on his face "Well thank you for your concern but have you seen anyone not here" I asked thinking about what the principal asked us to do "No me and this Earth mortal have not seen anything out of the ordinary at all" Gundham turned back around to me and Souda while memorising what he had seen. "So what was the second announcement about?" Kazuichi said while scratching his head before we heard a voice echo through the gym.

"MISS KIRIGIRI, MR NAEGI AND MISS MAIZONO ARE NO WHERE TO BE FOUND SIR!!" I had remembered that voice when we arrived at the school this year I believe his name was Taka.

"Indeed young man, this is concerning news regarding the three of them. Miss Sayaka Maizono is being trialed today and Makoto Naegi was the victim of a "Hate crime" (Btw he has to cover up it being attempted rape) that was committed by Miss Maizono" Whispers began to flood the assembly I could only hope that it goes well and justice is served, I looked back at the two males in front of me they both just shrugged their shoulders and we left for our new dorms.

*Courthouse*

*Kyoko POV*

This wasn't my first trial but it was the first where my friends were at risk and I didn't plan to lose and let my friends down like that. I promise to my friends that I will never give up. 

Naegi was standing next to me, he was shaking and I knew he was just as nervous and scared as I was only that I didn't show it. I grasped his hand in mine and looked at him with a warming smile "Don't worry, after this It will all be over and we can go back to school and see our friends" Naegi squeezed my hand in fear and forced himself to make a smile at me "I know, I just want to live a normal life after this" Naegi was still shaking but not as violently as he was before this. The doors opened to the court room and we were escorted to our positions in the room with me being at one side and Sayaka and her lawyer staring right back at me, Naegi was sat down looking on at us from his pedestal that he requested had a seat so he could relax just a bit. We waited 2 minutes for the judge to arrive so we could begin the trial.

"All rise for Judge Monokuma (Had to)!" the judge made his was to his bench all we knew was this was going to be a Trial of Misfortune. 

*1 hour later*

After an hour of Makoto holding back tears and making sure Sayaka is found guilty the judge spoke "May I ask if the jury has come to a decision?" The entire jury nodded and had one of the jurors read out their verdict "We all unanimously find Sayaka Maizono guilty your honour." Sayaka then had an outburst at the jury and judge "Are you kidding me how can you agree with that little wimp and that slutty bitch!" As she ranted on and fought the judge and jury my hate for her grew and grew. when she calmed down and broke into a silence "I have made my decision" The judge stood up and began to say his verdict but Makoto started to tear up and said "I don't want to hear the verdict, please can I go outside, your honour?" he nodded and Makoto was escorted out I held back the urge to go and help him recover and to comfort him but I knew it would only drag out what needed to be ended, I can go see him after this is all over "alright then in the case of Maizono vs Kirigiri and Naegi I find Sayaka Maizono guilty of Attempted rape and intentions to kill I sentence you to 2 years in prison trial dismissed!"

 I sighed a sigh of relief and looked over to Maizono who was sobbing on the floor as she was taken out of the room as soon as i said my goodbyes to the judge I ran outside to find Makoto in the park which was close by sat on a bench, I made my way over to him and sat beside him "Kyoko?" Naegi looked at me still with teary eyes "Yes Makoto I'm here and it's over now" He began to cry more and rested his head on my shoulder as he let his tears flow out "Can we take a week off, I still need some time to get over this trial" His crying had stopped and he had sat up to look at me, he rubbed away the stray tears that were still on his cheek "Of course we can, I'll tell my dad and I won't leave your side until you feel better"

Well you get a bit of SouSonDam for you and the trial, damn that was fun to write!! I'm gonna get straight to work on this next chapter god i have so many ideas expect some more Dr2 stuff and maybe a smidge of V3 but hey we'll wait and see.
