The two of them sat there for a while, just looking into the eyes of the other. It was quite nice, too, until Erica broke eye contact and started panicking.
"Erica, what's wrong?" he asked, not looking away from her. But then he realized that she was shaking, not panicking. "Erica?" And then she fell still. Now it was Percy's turn to panic. Was it the ambrosia? Oh gods, what if she wasn't one of them? Did he kill her?
However, his questions were answered when the door to the infirmary flew open and the familiar sound of Chiron's gallop filled the room.
"She's not dead, Perseus. However, she experiencing a state of psychological instability. Please leave her. When she awakens, I must ask her a few questions, and I will get back to you as soon as I can."
Percy didn't want to leave, of course, but Chiron's word was law. He slowly trudged out of the infirmary, pausing every now and then in case Erica woke up. She didn't.
He walked across the camp grounds, which were still totally dark, with his head down and his hands in his pockets, wondering what time it was. Psychological instability? What is that even supposed to mean? Whatever, Chiron said he would get back to him later, and maybe he can explain then.
It was weird, leaving Erica after he had just found her. He had a dream recently that he was supposed to go to that certain spot on the beach at that specific time if he was to find what he needed to complete his quest. This quest was a strange one, because it only involved him and now Erica. At the moment, that is. Sometimes the gods mess with quests and add new people in and new challenges whenever they felt like it.
But why her? She fell out of the stars and landed right in the middle of his quest. How was she to help him? What could she even do? Percy sat down on the steps of his cabin and looked up at the stars. He could never figure out how to read constellations, but he always tried to. He could, however, pick out one specific star pattern - Zoë Nightshade. Thinking about her made him nostalgic, and he missed the old days. Maybe with Erica's help, things could be normal again.
Percy stood up and turned around to enter his cabin. He grabbed the knob and pushed, and was taken aback when he saw what was in the back of his cabin. "Hermes?"
The god turned around. "Oh, hello Percy. I have a message for you." Percy sighed as Hermes pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket, cleared his throat, and began to read it aloud.
"The time has come. Look for the stars and look for the sea. Make peace with all three, and you will succeed. If you do not, Olympus will fall. It's up to you."
Percy shook his head. "What? It doesn't sound like a prophecy. It sounds more like a warning." He closed his eyes and tried to remember everything that the message said, but he kept forgetting small parts. He snatched the paper from Hermes and examined it. "Hermes, this page is blank."
Hermes sighed. "I know. It just looks more professional when I'm reading something. Anyways, I've gotta go. I've got like 26 more messages to deliver and a few pranks to pull. See ya, kid." And with that, the messenger god was gone.
Percy crumpled up the blank paper and threw it into the fountain in the middle of his cabin. The time has come for what? Find the stars and the sea? This is ridiculous. He let himself fall backwards onto his bed and he ran his fingers through his jet black hair as his thoughts ran through his mind. It was up to him to save Olympus, and he didn't even know what this message meant. Great.
The cabin door slammed open. "Percy. Come quick." And then Piper disappeared. Percy leapt up from his bed and ran outside, catching a short glimpse of Piper running towards the campfire. He followed her, running as fast as his legs would take him. Was it Erica? Had something bad happened? As he neared the fire, he saw that it in fact was not Erica. However, it was another unfamiliar girl. "She came from the sky," Piper explained. Just like Erica. "I don't know how, she just fell. And now she's unconscious."
Percy leaned in to get a closer look at the girl. She was small, maybe Hazel's height, but she was definitely older. Her skin was as white as snow with little freckles dotted across her cheeks and nose. Her light brown hair with blonde highlights was a little longer than shoulder length, and she had a little bow pulling back the front.
"Who is she?" Percy asked. No one replied, and Piper shrugged and shook her head. The girls eyes were closed, but she was breathing lightly. "Where's Chiron? Does anyone know what time it is?"
"Chiron is in the infirmary I think," said a Demeter camper. The same camper then pulled out a super old looking pocket watch. "And it's 4:57 am."
So Chiron was still with Erica. Great. Hopefully he was talking to her by this point and not still waiting for her to wake up. "Someone get this girl some ambrosia," Percy ordered. An Apollo camper pulled an ambrosia square out of her bag kneeled next to the mysterious girl. She opened the girl's mouth, placed the square inside, and helped the girl chew.
The girl woke up almost instantaneously, and looked around quickly. "Where's my sword?" she demanded. When no one replied, she said it again. "Where. Is. My. Sword."
"We don't have your sword," Piper responded. "You fell from the sky. You didn't have a sword with you. Can you tell us your name?"
Piper's charmspeak didn't seem to work on the girl. She became suddenly timid, slowly backing away from Piper. "Why should I tell you my name when I don't even know who you are or where I am?"
Piper sighed as Percy watched intently. Why were random girls falling from the sky? His dream only told him about one girl. Now there's another?
"I'm Piper. You're at Camp Half Blood. There, now can you tell us who you are?"
The girl swallowed and then looked up at Piper and Percy and the other campers. "I'm Holly. And I'm looking for my sword."
