~To The Story~
"This smoothie is pretty good." You commented.
"Hm," Airi hummed, sitting right beside you. "I suppose. Although, I'd prefer my usual."
"It's the grape one, right?" You inquired.
"Yeah." She casually replies.
"So..." Airi began. "Why are you hanging out with me instead of Karma-kun?"
Your body flinched. "Wh-why are you asking me such a question?" You gave her a lame sheepish smile. "You're my friend, too. I don't have to spend all my time with Karma."
Thinking your explanation sufficed you resumed drinking your smoothie to ignore Airi's eyes.
She sighed, "alright, let me rephrase my question." This time, she straight up glared at you. "Why have you been spending more time with me and not Karma-kun?"
"I have not. I hung out with him yesterday... er actually we just walked home together."
The kiss you shared with Karma happened last week and in between those times, everything has been... awkward, to say the least. And because of that, you've kept your distance from him. You're not entirely to blame, Karma seems to be keeping his distance from you as well! There are fewer phone calls, text messages and plans to meet up and just goof off.
"You're not going to let one kiss ruin your ten-year friendship with him, are you?"
"Of course not." You breathed out. "Things..." The colour red started to cloud your cheeks. "Things are just still a bit awkward between us. But we still hang out every now and then... mostly at school though." You coughed.
"Don't you think this is hurting him?"
"Ugh. I know it is. But he's not like he's making this easier. Every now and then he can't look me straight in the eye. I even sometimes catching looking at my lips. That weirdo!"
Aggressively, you began drinking the smoothie until you got a brain freeze.
"OOOOWIE!"
"For heaven sake's," Airi muttered.
"Ugh," you groaned in pain as the sharp pain in your begins to fade away. "Why are feelings so complicated?" You muttered.
"Well, sometimes people make it complicated," Airi commented and sipped some more on her drink. She eventually sighed. "I'm sorry, I probably shouldn't have told you that Karma-kun liked you."
"No. Don't be sorry. If you hadn't, who knows how long it would have taken for me to figure it out on my own... and, to be honest, I'm glad that he confessed to me. It made me feel.... so happy."
"Happy, huh?" She mused.
You nodded shyly. "I've... already came to terms that I like Karma... but us being in a relationship just scares me." You admit.
"I understand. But wouldn't you rather take the risk?" She smiled.
"Huh?"
"You have a boy who is devoted to you and you alone. Do you really think he'll ever hurt you? I'm not saying you guys won't have problems cause what relationship doesn't have its fair share of issues. But knowing you guys, I'm sure you'll work it out."
You averted your gaze away from your friend. Her words gave you more of a positive perspective about you and Karma being in a relationship. But, it was too soon to make a decision. You wanted more time to think things through some more.
