Moonkit's POV:

My eyes glowed in darkness as I led the way out of the nursery. Bending my head, I pushed myself out of the thorny barrier. I took a few steps forwards before raising my head and looking around the camp.

I felt my breath leave me. It was stunning. The ethereal moonlight seemed to cloak the clearing in silver light, shadows dancing. It was wonderful. The wind blew softly, rustling my fluffy pelt. Not minding the slight chill of leaf-bare, I stared off into the distance.

Streamclaw was at the other side of the camp, and with the way my pelt blended with the shadows, I knew he would have a hard time spotting me.

Sunkit, on the other paw, was as obvious as could be. I glanced at her shining amber eyes and pale coat. She had moved next to me, and I shifted slightly so my dark pelt would block most of her orange fur.

It was strange, I pondered. We were so different, our eyes, pelts, and even our personalities. It almost had me questioning if we were really littermates. I shook my head. Of course we were littermates. I still had vague memories of the past. I only remembered bits and pieces, but those fragments of my memory were enough to ensure that Sunkit was indeed my littermate.

However, one thing that didn't add up was Citrusfall. The nursery was so warm, and cozy, nothing like what I remembered. The bitter, harsh wind blowing against my thin pelt. I knew Sunkit noticed this too. We weren't mouse-brained, but, I thought, As long as I can keep being happy, keep enjoying this warm feeling, I can put my suspicions aside and just be carefree.

Just like this, Sunkit and I stood side by side, facing the cool wind and breathing in the scent of our clanmates. It was peaceful. Quiet, serene, and beautiful. Just like it should be.

My eyes glanced over at where Streamclaw was beginning to pad towards our side of camp.

"It's past moonhigh," I reminded, "We should probably get back before Streamclaw finishes checking things out on the other side of camp."

"Yeah," Sunkit stated sadly. Her bright amber eyes had dimmed, and I knew she was just as reluctant as I was to leave.

We slowly padded into the nursery, throwing back glances whenever we could. I curled up against Sunkit, absorbing the heat from her pelt as my breathing grew steady and I drifted off into a deep sleep.
