Matthew snarled as his wife and daughter finally left and shook his head. He turned his gaze onto the girl behind him a sneer on his face as he saw her curl back away from him as best as she could in her current position. He stalked back over to her and traced the flat of the blade over her cheek again as his eyes flashed.
"So troublesome," He growled lowly as he grabbed at her throat with his free hand clenching it just enough to make her gasp, "I want to kill you so bad, cement my place as the ruler of the courts but lucky for you I have to wait."
Matthew chuckled darkly as he pulled his hand away before drawing it back. The hit was sudden, causing the cheek that had not been hit to impact with the chair she was tied to. He grinned as he heard soft whimpers escape her lips. He took a moment before he grabbed her chin roughly making sure she looked him right in the eye. A snarl left his lips as she saw the twisted gleam in his eye, "It will be a great show for your precious mother and girlfriend."
He stood up straight after that and with a grin, his eyes flashing again as he spoke, "I think it's time I called in my back up. Make sure the plan runs smoothly till the end."
With that, he left the room and walked straight back to his office. He paced the room for a moment before he snatched his cell phone from his pocket. Unlocking it quickly, he pressed a few buttons before he brought it up to his ear, and growled, "I think it's time you get over here. The end is nearing, and we'll have our power soon, Thomas."
Evelyn inhaled softly as she followed behind the rest of the group lost in her thoughts. So much had happened in so little time, plans had been disrupted by the capture of her daughter, and new 'allies' just kept coming. She shook her head as she tried to make sense of it all as a frown slipped onto her face. Her eyes drifted from the crowd of people around her as she stopped short and looked towards the moon that hung in the sky as she couldn't help but wipe her eyes. She sighed softly as she remembered her makeup had been destroyed from her previous emotional state.
"We'll get her back Evelyn..."
She turned to look over at the fae to her side, sighing softly as her gaze turned to the hand on her shoulder, and she smiled softly, and whispered, "I-I know we will, but it doesn't help the guilt I feel for not coming into her life sooner, Natasha. For not pushing for more contact with her when Leon was alive. I should have been there when she needed me."
"I don't think you coming into her life earlier would have changed much, at least that's what I've gathered from living with her, all you can do now is help her through whatever trauma your uncle has inflicted on her when we get her back," Natasha sighed softly, nudging her head in the direction of the house, "Come on let's join the others."
Evelyn nodded as she took another look at the moon before closing her eyes sending a quick prayer to the Dagda, begging him to keep her little girl safe. After a moment she raised her head and opened her eyes running her hand through her hair before she followed after Natasha. Her eyes flashed in the darkness as she inwardly thought, I promise my dear daughter I won't let him take you from us... from me again.
Without another thought, she slipped the phone out of her pocket as she dialed the number effortlessly placing it to her ear as it was picked up and said, "Two hours, tell Ben and Olivia where we are meeting. Do not tell Alanna or Thomas."
Rosalyn slipped the phone into her purse as she looked up and yelled to her husband, "Can you call Olivia and Benjamin, I need to get the car ready because I love you but with how your headaches were, I don't want us to get in an accident."
Jacob looked up from his chair and rubbed his beard as he couldn't help the look of shock on his face. He was surprised his daughter was willing to meet with them, after all he did while under his father's control. "Of course, dear, did she say when to meet?"
"We have about two hours to get them and make our way to the house. Oh, and she said not to tell Alanna and Thomas, though I haven't the foggiest reason why she did," Rosalyn replied as she went to grab her jacket and the keys to the car, running a hand through her grey streaked auburn hair.
"I have a faint idea; I don't like it but it's the only reason I can see being plausible. Thomas and Matthew got along very well," Jacob said with a sigh as he stood up stretching out his muscles as he reached for his own cell phone.
He exhaled softly as he walked towards the bedroom deep in his thoughts before he turned and looked at his wife a sad smile as he continued, "She must be worried he's on Matthew's side in all this, and you must know our dear youngest daughter cannot keep a secret from him she loves him as much as I love you, my dear."
Rosalyn's eyes twinkled as she heard him say he loved her but then they dimmed as she realized just how correct he was on their daughter, and nodded as she whispered, "I know, you're right love."
She shook her head a smiled back on her face as she went out to get the car started and warmed up. She grumbled as she felt the cold air of the garage only to wince as her body protested against the cold. Her eyes hardened as she shook her head again determined to not let the cold stop her. I am not letting the cold ruin the chances of reconnecting with my children.
It didn't take her long to get the car started up and she sighed softly as she felt the warmth against her back. Thank goodness for heated seats.
"Ben said he was fine on a ride as his wife's home to watch the kids so he can have the car and Olivia asked us to give her twenty minutes to get ready."
Rosalyn squeaked as she hadn't noticed her husband open the passenger side door until he was done speaking. Her cheeks puffed out as she heard him chuckle at her surprise, a slight tinge of pink painted her face. "Oh, just get in the car, and stop laughing!"
"Alright, I'm sorry my love. It's just been a while since I've been able to surprise you," he said softly as he plopped down in the seat and buckled it after closing the door. Jacob took a moment before he leaned over and placed a kiss on her cheek, and whispered softly, "you look so beautiful with that blush on your cheeks."
Rosalyn could only inwardly groan as her cheeks only darkened at his comment and she slapped his shoulder. "Alright calm down you charmer and let's go see if we can repair the relationship with our kids."
As she opened the garage door and pulled out, she rolled her eyes as she saw her husband grinning out of the corner of her eyes. It was with that she was starting to see the subtle differences in his personality now that he was free of that magic his father had put on him. She had just thought it was him as he aged, she had never expected it to be anything else. This only caused her to smile softly as she drove to their eldest daughter's apartment on the other side of town. Looks like you didn't win in the end, Edmund. I will help stop his brother and see my family whole again if it's the last thing I do.
