Night faded into morning as they sat vigil, somber eyes drifting down the hall as a whisper escaped her lips, "Dad, what if we don't make it in time. What if I...I mean we lose her?"
A hand rested on her shoulder as her eyes turned back to her fathers, unable to hold in the tears any longer. She felt his lips press against her forehead and he whispered back, "We'll get her back Natasha."
Her eyes swept the room as she smiled softly as she saw her mother curled up in her father's lap fast asleep, then to her aunt and uncle in a similar position both deep in sleep. Her gaze finally turning to the air mattress where Jacob and Rosalyn slept and chuckled softly, as she turned back to her father. "I know I just can't help but have these little fears... I'm so scared dad."
She heard her father gasp as they felt a ripple as if a severed connection had been repaired. Natasha let her eyes drift to his as a silent question traveled between their gaze. What was that?
A moment passed before a frown slipped onto Natasha's face as she walked to the front door, her teeth slightly bared as she growled, "I'm going to go check the perimeter."
Natasha slipped out of the house taking in the morning sounds and scents. The soft songs of the birds in the distance slightly calming as she discreetly shifted at the hood of Carolyn's car so as to not attract attention. Hopefully, no one saw me.
Her eyes glowed as she lifted her nose to the sky and inhaled but not before a patch of grey was noticed in the corner of her eye. She let loose a low menacing growl as she saw the other wolf. Something seemed familiar about this wolf but at the same time there weren't many Seelie with a grey wolf primal. When the other wolf didn't move at her growl, she braced herself for a fight and stalked closer. Natasha's eyes narrowed as she looked at the wolf laying on its side before a groan left its muzzle. Moments later eyes opened up to reveal a brilliant red color that faded into amber. She expected a growl as its gaze focused on her but all she saw was confusion before the wolf scrambled to its paws. The confusion only grew as it had to look up slightly to look her in the eyes. With a shimmer it shifted back, revealing Damien though his eyes never changed from its amber color.
"What the hell?"
Natasha was taken aback as she shifted back as well grabbing him by his chin as she stared into his eyes. The moment she pulled back, she ran a hand through her hair as it dawned on her what the ripple was and whispered,"It was you."
"what do you mean it was me?"
Natasha rested her hand on her forehead as she groaned softly. She grabbed his wrist tightly before she dragged him down to the lake. "First of all look at your eyes in the reflection."
She growled softly as Damien continued to look at her with confusion on his face before she grabbed the back of his neck. She forced his head down with her own before she turned her face to look at him. His mouth gaped but otherwise, his emotions were hidden. Natasha exhaled as she looked up unable to help but notice her breath was visible. Ugh, I hate New England weather.
"The magic must have accepted your redemption and reconnected you, but don't think that means we'll let you off easily. If I know my father he will make you earn your place from the bottom but at least I can have a better sense of ease that you won't betray us. Only extreme emotional change could trigger the old magic." She growled out as she poked into his side a pointed glare on her face.
She rolled her eyes as Damien sheepishly smiled and raised his hands in surrender, before crossing her arms her eyes narrowed as he spoke, "I've had a long enough time to think Natasha, I know I am far from earning a right to be called Seelie once more, but I think you know I will do whatever it takes."
