Natasha grimaced as she scanned the forest and wrapped her arms around Carolyn a little tighter. "I think something is out there."
Carolyn reached up and stroked her girlfriend's cheek. "What's wrong? What do you sense?"
The young fae royal shook her head and looked down at Carolyn with a warm smile. Her smile widened as she stared into those curious vibrant green eyes. "It's most likely nothing, but let's go inside."I'll have to go outside and check the forest when she's asleep tonight. Whatever that aura was, it felt cold like icicles piercing my skin. Natasha sighed as she gave a little chuckle and picked Carolyn up in her arms, carrying her back bridal style.
"H-hey what are you doing! You know I hate heights," Carolyn squeaked as she buried her face into Natasha's neck.
Her eyes shut tightly as she smacked the back of Natasha's head, only to let out a squeak as she had to readjust to feel secure again. She let out a sigh of relief once she felt herself being put down onto a soft surface. She placed her palm onto the air mattress and reopened her eyes, glad to see she was back in the house. "Never again Tasha."
"You know you were never in any danger of falling." Natasha chuckled as she sat down beside her on the air mattress before she laid back and pulled Carolyn with her. She pressed her front into her girlfriend, and wrapped her arms around her waist, placing soft kisses to her neck. "You're always safe with me Lyn.""I know."
Natasha smiled as she felt Carolyn begin to shift in her arms until they were face to face, and her girlfriend laid her head on her chest. She kissed the top of her girl's head smiling softly. "I'm sorry for my stupidity earlier."
"You keep saying sorry Tasha but I understand, kind of. Now let's just enjoy our happiness until you have to go talk to your parents." Carolyn smiled softly as she placed a kiss on Natasha's cheek.
They sat in silence, curled into each other's arms as the minutes passed before it turned into an hour. Natasha smiled down at the sleeping girl in her arms, as she rubbed her back softly. She kissed Carolyn's head again, as she closed her eyes joining her girlfriend in the dream world. From the kitchen, Evelyn stared out at the two of them. She smiled softly as she quietly walked out and over to them before she took the afghan in her hands. She lightly draped it over them and placed a kiss on their heads, before going outside to think on everything. I have to be brave for them, I have to stand with them as they stand up to my father and uncle.
"We're gonna need allies, Natasha said I could trust my elder sister. Maybe Its time I call Olivia up. I knew there was always had to be a reason she couldn't stand Thomas," Evelyn muttered softly as she drummed her fingers against her leg as she sat down before she finally noticed the antique car in the driveway. Leon's old thunderbird, he loved that car... I'm glad she has it to remember him by.
She sighed softly as she stood up and walked over to the car. When she placed a hand on the hood of the car, it felt as if a dam had broken and she sobbed openly. "Oh, who am I kidding. Damnit, I can't do this on my own Leon! You were always the calm headed one, I need your guidance now."
Even though she knew he trusted her to keep their daughter safe, she still felt the doubt she could keep her promise. She fell to her knees as she rested her head softly on the hood of the car, her makeup at this point ruined from her tears, but she made sure not to get any of the ruined makeup on the exterior of the car.
You can do this Evelyn, I promise. Believe in yourself.
"Ysabella... Thank you. You raised Carolyn to be a good person, You are and have been a wonderful mother to her." Evelyn let out an airy chuckle, a small smile on her face.
