"I am not sure to understand why such a celebration is held for the end of a year, and the start of another."
Thomas, Roll and Blues chuckled at my comment. I watched as Rock did a small speech for the humans crowding around the large place. I was always confused by human celebrations. Most made no sense to me.
I glanced at the door as agent Kranz stepped in. She asked for Rock's assistance to protect the citizens. The 'Emerald Spears', those who attacked the robotics exposition, were still having a few members around and they might aim for the new year celebration. I would have proposed to assist as well, but I had no will to fight tonight, I wanted to simply spend the evening calmly.
I let Roll pull me along as she went from stand to stand. I had to admit, all of those shining lights were beautifully arranged. Roll handed me something. I glanced down at her, tearing my gaze away from the lights, to see a hat in her hands. I softly smiled and grabbed it. A wool hat, a beanie I've heard humans call it, a grey one. I put it on and flicked the end behind, making her giggle. I continued to follow her, occasionally stopping to buy something as well. I had an idea of gift for my older siblings and Thomas.
After a small bit of time, we were back in the crowd, beside Blues and Thomas. We were awaiting on a countdown to midnight. Rock flew over us for a while, shooting his buster to form, in a way, fireworks. I fondly smiled at him, then looked down at Roll. I gently lifted her on my shoulders, making her squeal. Soon the countdown started and I played along. There was a large explosion in the sky right as it ended. I hugged Blues and Thomas with a smile. I may not understand human celebrations, but I understand why they celebrate it with family.

As much as it is Mega man's birthday today, I've decided to stay in my cave for a while, to continue preparing what I had been working on for so long. Turns out, shaping jewelry is much harder than it seems.
My head perked up at the sound of footsteps. The lights dimmed on my command and I jumped to the metal beam on the ceiling. I felt something coming at me at high speed and I dropped before it could reach me. It embedded itself in the metal beam. I looked around. I leaped back, dodging the giant shuriken that flew at me. My laser cutter replaced my left hand and cut through another.
"Show yourself, intruder!" I called out
Down from a metal support beam dropped a robot with a familiar design. My eyes went wide as a sudden burning rage raise from deep within me.
"You.traitors! You, all of you stardroids! You betrayed us!"
I ran at him and attacked wildly, he dodged every time, but confusion was readable on his face.
"What do you mean, who are you?"
My eyes felt teary, my body freezing.
"Do you not recognize an old ally? Do you not recognize those who lost their planet and barely survived extinction because of you? Do you not recognize me, stardroid?"
A yellow cloak of my energy slowly coated my limbs and his eyes went wide.
"A sun spirit?! B-But you were exterminated by one of your own! What do-"
"WE WERE NOT!" I raged
My arm went cutting through a stalagmite sending it to the ground. I walked menacingly towards him, holding my cutter to his chin as he backed up.
"We were your unconditional allies! And for what?! For that disgusting betrayal that left me all alone!"
He tried to grab my arms, but I moved back before he could.
"Your tribe, they killed them all."
I shuddered, more tears falling as I hugged myself. The light emitting from me faded away. He seemed stunned into silence.
"I was left without a body, floating in space for hundred of years. I had no memories, and I've recovered less than half of them. What pushed you to do this? Why would you?"
He relaxed his stance, slowly stepping towards me.
"I...don't know, I don't understand why they would. I remember spending time on your planet, it was such a peaceful place. I-"
He cut himself off with a groan, grabbing his head. I rushed to him and harshly pressed a hand on his chest. A flash of yellow light escaped and he fell over, eyes brightly glowing yellow for a few seconds. He slowly raised to his feet, previously blood red eyes turned gold. They went wide, looking down at his own body.
"R-Ra moon's blood."
"Temporarily, I cannot overthrow a powerful entity on my own."
He looked up at me, tentatively reaching towards me. Next second he had me locked in a tight hug. I didn't hug back, keeping my arms by my sides.
"Understand that you will need to earn my pardon like the rest of your brothers when all of this ordeal is over. I do not forgive easily those who attack my family."
He let go and looked slightly saddened, probably from the lack of response to the hug.
"We may have once been allies, Stardroid. But there is no such alliance anymore. Understood?" I growled out
I whirled around and started walking away.
"W-What's your name?"
I stopped and glanced back at him.
"I've chosen Star as a new name, you are?"
He stood straight and bowed.
"Shadow man, my lady."
I hummed and looked away. Energy charged around me and I teleported away.
I landed in professor Rouge's laboratory and sat at a table with something of my creation. A machine to deduce if something is charged with energy. It first reacted to my presence, letting me have information on my own powers, then it scanned the other worldly crystal and my eyes went wide at the results.
