Mr. & Mrs. Bright - A Milton Wedding

Chapter 2

Monday morning finally arrived and after getting through his morning routine, Malcolm walked into his bedroom to finally begin packing for the trip. 

"Are you just now packing?" Dani asked Malcolm after she had walked into his loft and found him in his bedroom. 

"Yeah, I'm often a last-minute packer," Malcolm said as he stopped packing and turned to face Dani who chuckled before kissing Malcolm. 

"Well I was on the phone with your sister as I was getting out of the car and she said she would be here soon so you should probably finish packing," Dani said as she walked over to Sunshine's cage to let her fly around for a while. 

Malcolm smiled before continuing to pack his suitcase. 

As Malcolm was finishing packing his suitcase, Ainsley walked into the loft. "Alright, your favourite sister is here to take care of Sunshine for the week." She said as she wheeled a suitcase into the loft behind her. 

"Ains, you're my only sister. Of course, you're my favourite sister," Malcolm said as he walked over to Ainsley and hugged her, "I wrote out a list of instructions for taking care of Sunshine and left it on the counter." 

Ainsley rolled her eyes as Dani put Sunshine back in her cage and Malcolm grabbed his suitcase. 

"Seriously Malcolm, I watched Sunshine when you and Dani had gone on your undercover case. I think I know how to take care of your bird by now." She said as she sat down on one of the stools at the counter. 

Malcolm smiled as he walked with Dani to the door, "I'll see you in a week Ains, and if you run into any issues, JT's number is on the counter for you, as well as the number for Sunshine's vet." He said before he and Dani left the loft.

After loading Malcolm's suitcase into the trunk of Dani's car and climbing into the car to leave, Malcolm and Dani began their drive. 

"So how close were you with your cousin Richard?" Dani asked Malcolm as she drove. 

"I was never that close with Richard. Honestly, I was never close with any of my cousins, Richard's sister Sarah put up with me though," Malcolm said as he looked over at Dani. 

Dani nodded slightly as she kept her eyes on the road, "So what your saying is I should prepare for a whole lot of awkwardness unless we're with your mother and Gil or Sarah?" She asked curiously. 

Malcolm chuckled, "Oh definitely. Even if I had cousins that I got along with, they all hate my family now after what my father did, so there would be awkwardness anyway." He said as they pulled into a gas station. 

While Dani was filling up the car, Malcolm sat in the passenger seat texting his sister. 

When Dani got back into the car from filling up the car and buying snacks for the both of them, Malcolm's phone rang. 

"What do you want Dr. Whitly?" Malcolm said as he put his phone on speaker when he answered it. 

"Well is that any way to treat your father?" Martin asked in response. 

Malcolm rolled his eyes and looked at Dani, shaking his head. 

"Look, I'm kind of in a hurry so I can't talk long." He said as Dani started the car so they could leave the gas station. 

"Oh, do you have a new case? Tell me all about it my boy." Martin said excitedly. 

Malcolm sighed as Dani drove out of the gas station parking lot and back onto the road. 

"Not a case, just cousin Richard's wedding." He said and heard Martin groan in response. 

"So is Dani your plus one to this wedding?" Martin asked excitement and curiosity in his voice.
