Flying Is Hard

I woke up to Ariana shaking me with a wide grin, "Come on! Adrian is waiting and we have the day off."

Our days off were always sort of boring we just walked around outside and sometimes slept when it was warm. I was dreading going outside, I don't know why but I always much preferred staying inside and exploring the castle.

"Ugh, can't we just explore."

She yanked me up, no one else was in the dorm, and she yanked so hard I fell off the bed and landed on the ground. "Nope, I have something special planned."

Ariana pulled me out of the room and into the much empty common room. Only five other people were in there: Blaine, Adrian, Crabbe, Goyle, and Draco.

Draco looked up, "What are you little annoying twats doing?" I looked up at him and he raised his eyebrows in surprise, "Oh, I didn't see you, Jesse... Uh... Hey?"

Adrian and Ariana burst laughing and ran out of the common room, Ariana yelling behind her, "Come out when your done with your boyfriend." She said the last word mockingly.

I looked back at Draco, his cheeks were red, and his mouth was open slightly. "She just kidding."

He flustered, "Oh, okay, yeah that's cool... Um, well I heard Snape was looking for you."

"What? Why?" Why would my father be looking for me? He hasn't really talked to me that much, even in class, he favors anyone else, but me. He probably is afraid I will get an answer wrong and it will make him look bad, but I get very good grades in that class.

"I don't know, Snape came in here and asked had I seen you and I hadn't, so I said no." He looked like he was telling the truth, and he had no reason to lie.

"Oh, I want to go hang with Ariana. Do you mind lying to him again if need be?" I was sort of being truthful, I want to be with Ariana, but I also really want to know what he wants, but I'm scared kind of. Am I in trouble?

"Uh, yeah, sure." I smiled and hugged him tightly. Even though others think he's a bad guy he really isn't. He has a story, like everyone, and others are being too judgemental too soon.

"Thanks," I called to him racing to the door.

Outside, Ariana and Adrian were still laughing hard. I rolled my eyes and they each grabbed one arm, "Come on little girl, no boyfriends until at least 16." Adrian said mocking a parental figure.

They were dragging my upstairs and outside. "Why would I go out with Draco?"

Ariana let out a laugh, "Girl, he likes you." Adrian nodded matter-of-factly. "Did you see the way he looked when we said boyfriend?"

Honestly, I didn't give it much thought at the time, but he did look embarrassed, like we discovered his deep dark secret.

Ariana cut through my thoughts, "We're here!" She squeaked.

I looked around, "Where is here, exactly." All around us were bleachers, like a big stadium. The field was an oval shape, with three big rings on either side.

"The Quidditch Pitch. We are going to train you to be on the Slytherin team. Now with our very minimal knowledge of muggle sports, what did you play?"

Such an odd question, "Well, I like kickball-"

"I guess that is when you kick a ball, right?"

I nodded and said, "Also, softball is fun."

She was basically jumping up and down, "Beater!" She looked over at Adrian and he nodded.

"I still don't know a lot about Quidditch, and I don't know how to fly a broomstick yet." It was true I wasn't well enough to go to the flying lesson and never got around to it.

Ariana got a wicked grin and pulled out her wand, "Accio broomsticks."

It's not going to work, I thought. But sure enough only seconds later I heard a faint crash and two broomsticks landed next to Adrian. He picked one up but Ariana grabbed it and sat on it, miraculously it started flying. Adrian was stunned so I snatched up the broom and swung my leg over it like she did. I expected it to rise but it didn't. It stayed completely stationary. I jumped, but it stayed in a passive state.

"I think this one is defective." I called to Ariana.

Adrian laughed and took the broom from me, he swung his leg over and patted right behind him, where there was very little room left. But I would fit cause my frame is smaller than normal. I climbed on, Adrian kicked off the ground and we flew high into the air.

It was amazing and terrifying at once. I tried to hold on eventhough we kept gaining altitude, but the wind blew my hair back in a way that was exhilarating. I was losing my grip and struggled to hold on, but my palms were sweaty. "Adrian go back down. I'm losing grip." I yelled to him over the rushing wind. He took a turn, not to sharp but that was enough.

I plummeted from 30 feet in the air, and the last thing I could remember was the sound of wind rushing, and a voice that sounded like Draco calling to me.
