"Basho, thank you for coming so quickly. I appreciate your assistance." The chain user said while anxiously opening the car door.

"Kura- I mean, chain user... Why do you always have to be so formal? We're buddies! Pals! You can talk like a normal human being around me." Basho exclaimed

Damn, That guy almost let the chain user's name slip out. For some reason, I know that would be a problem for the chain user, although I'm not sure why. What would I even do with that information?

As the chain user shoved you and himself into the back of the limo, he grumbled, "Yes, Basho, I know. I'll try harder to let loose, I promise."

The chain user quietly shut the car door. He didn't want to break the tune's effect on the troupe members quite yet. The chain user tore off his hat and wig and placed them on the seat between the both of you. His slightly-above shoulder-length blonde hair stuck to the side of his face and framed it nicely.

"Drive." he demanded in a stern voice

Basho nodded his head and made a sharp turn all the way around, facing the direction the chain user was running with you. The sound of the tires screeching on the black tar must've broken the melody's effect because the troupe members started charging the vehicle.

"Basho, please speed up!"

"Calm down, Ku-... chain user! I'm trying."

That's twice now that his name's almost slipped. Wait, why do I even care about this asshole's name? I need to talk my way out of this situation before caring about stuff like that. Am I feeling bad for this guy?

"Are you ever gonna let me go? Why did you even take me? I'm not even a member of the troupe..."

"Yes, I'm aware.  To be honest, I'm not sure why I let your sister go and took you with me. It just seemed like the right thing to do at the time, but now that I look back at it, it's starting to make less sense. Once I saw the other two members come to aid Machi, I was filled with rage and didn't want to take it out on you. I made a snap decision to let Machi go, grab you, and run."

His attempt was flawed, but maybe he's not so bad

"How did your partner know I'd be here?"

"Oh... Basho didn't know I'd be with anyone. He planned only to pick me up and told Melody to distract anyone that was giving me trouble with her flute."

"Wow... I don't know if I should be scared right now or if I should thank you. I love my sister- well, at least I think I do, but I think getting as far away from her as possible after hearing what she did to your clan was for the best. So I guess... thank you? I know I should resent you right now, but for some reason, I can't help but feel bad."

"I appreciate your sympathy. But, you must know, I intend to kill every last member of the Phantom Troupe. Don't get too comfortable." As the chain user said this, he faced the window. He snapped himself out of whatever he was feeling, rubbed his eyes, and looked back at you. Weird.

You sat silent, unaware of how to respond to such threatening words. The chain user glared out the back window and pointed out that the troupe members weren't trailing the car anymore.

"It seems we've lost them. If I know melody, I'll bet she's already making her way back home as we speak. Although I'm enraged that I wasn't able to capture Machi, I'm relieved the other troupe members didn't catch up to us. It's far too difficult to take on more than one member at once, I'm afraid."

The driver darted his eyes to the mirror, glanced at the chain user, and said, "Kurapika, don't worry. We'll figure this troupe business out, I promise... oh my god, Kura- Chain user! I'm sorry. I let your name slip."

"It's alright, Basho. I don't mind. For some reason, I feel this girl is somewhat trustworthy, at least with my name." the blonde said with a slight smile.

You felt a bit of a rush the moment he said that. You couldn't quite pinpoint why. Maybe it was because he was so intimidating, and it excited you that someone like him trusted you, even if it was only a little bit.

He has such an elegant look to him. He's... Ethereal. I'd never expected myself to be so intimidated by someone so delicate and collected. I can tell there's a subdued rage in his heart, but he only reveals it when he can't hold back. I'm intrigued. I want to know more about him.

The limo pulls up to a towering building by the name of "Hotel Beitacle." By the looks of it, it's high class. This boosts your curiosity even further.

With a rigorous yet sympathetic gleam in his eyes, Kurapika asserts, "Listen y/n; I'm not going to force you into staying here, but I feel like being in contact with Machi, and any of the troupe for that matter, is dangerous. I will explain more if you decide to stay. She has done some things that continuously haunt my mind. It must feel like your entire world is falling apart right now, but please believe me when I say this is the best place for you."

I was really hoping to get closer to my sister tonight and have some fun with her. But now, just the thought of her face sickens me. He was right about that whole 'world falling apart' ordeal. I feel dreadful. Although, his kind words bring comfort and help dial down the anguish.

"Although I don't feel any remorse for what I did to Machi, I'm sorry you had to see your sister so brutally attacked. That must've been tough." He said with a subtle sigh.

"It might take some time to forgive you entirely for that, but thanks. When you first grabbed me, I thought you were a monster. It turns out you're quite kind. But I'm still confused as to why you're being so nice in the first place, considering I'm related to one of your rivals."

The blonde rustled his hair a bit. "I'm not sure how, but I can tell you're not the enemy. I would eliminate you right away if I felt you had ties to the troupe or thought you were a threat to my plan for revenge."

What is wrong with me? I should be so mad at him right now. He has an insanely deep hatred for my sister and wants her dead. I know I just met him, but I already feel safer with him than I ever have with her. She and my other family members have always been so cold. Maybe that's why.

"I'll stay here for a few days and see how it goes, I guess. I can play it by ear. Now, since I've made my mind up, can we please go inside? This dress doesn't exactly cover much, and my jacket is longgg gone."

Basho raised his eyebrows and gazed at both of you, a bit confused. "Why are you both getting along so well already?"

Both you and the blonde blush slightly, not quite sure what to say, and head for the entrance.
