"Don't go Easy on Me"

You slowly lifted your head up from the table and said in a soft sleep voice, “yeahh?” you brushed your hair out of your face with your hand. 

The boy sits down on the bench across from you, and lays his arms down in a crisscross and rested his head in the middle, “I-ahh... I’m sorry, for um.. getting in your personal space this morning, its just, I can get a little invasive I guess. I’ma- I’m also sorry for yelling at you, I got out of han-“

“It’s okay... Gally is it?”

He looks a little taken aback, “umm.. ya. Yeah I’m Gally! I- I never caught your name?”

“Y/n, and I understand, I can be.. frustrating, to say the least. I’ve just been hurt too many times in the past.”

“wait- you... you remember your past?”

“I-I mean.. a little bit, why...”

“when you get sent up into the glade, the only memory you're supposed to get is your name... what do you remember?”

You hesitate, and your eyes start watering and then a tear slips out of your eye, “my.. my brother, I remember them... hurting him.” 

Gally puts a hand on your cheek and wipes away the tear with his thumb, “It’s okay greenie, who.. who was hurting your brother... do you remember?”

“I’m not sure who, but... they kept testing on him, I think they were going to send him down here..”

Gally put his hand on your arm to comfort you as you told him what you remember.

“I don’t know what happened next, except... I was sleeping in my room with him, and they were about to take him again... but... I tried to stop them, and I did.. but I guess they just decided to take me instead.” 

You start to get angry. You get up and Gally’s facial expression changes so he’s on guard. It looks like you’re ready to hurt someone, and you move closer to Gally, but what you do is surprising, you force yourself to hug the boy, and at first he’s shocked, but then warms into the hug.

“Your safe now Greenie, they cant hurt you anymore, I- I won’t let them.”

You hear another boy walk in, but at this point you don’t care, it was just you and Gally right now, the boy soon walked out though, you could tell by the sound of the makeshift door.

“Come on Greenie, lets get to the bonfire, everyone’s waiting...”

You and Gally set off with Gally walking in front, before you got out there, you wiped away your eyes to make sure no one knew you were crying, you had to look tough in front of everyone.

Suddenly you here everyone around you chanting, “GALLY! GALLY!” they start to form a circle around the boy.

A boy steps into the circle with Gally, and the two exchange a few words then start to fight, the boy that stepped into the circle is about to throw a punch at Gally, but he beats him to it and charges at him, pushing him out of the ring in less than a minute.

Suddenly you find yourself cheering amongst the crowd, always for Gally. The fights continue for half an hour, and one kid gets knocked out deeming Gally the victor once more.

“Who’s Next?!” he asks.... no response, “Once again I wi-“

“Ill go,” you find yourself saying. You hear a few gasps as you walk in the circle.

“Are you trying to get yourself killed y/n-err Greenie?”

“No. I’m here to win,” you look directly in his eyes as you say this, a smirk forming on your face. 

“I can’t- how is this allowed.. I’m not going to hurt a girl,” Gally responds.

You slowly step closer to him, stopping when your faces were a few inches apart.

You tip your head down to his ear and whisper, “Don’t go easy on me.” before you back up and uppercut him with your fist, leaving him to stumble backwards.
