"Fred.

I don't know when or if you'll read this, but I can't do this anymore.

I would never do anything to hurt you, but you hurt me. You didn't trust me, you had no faith in me.

I'm sorry, but I don't want to be with you any longer and you can't make me change my mind.
You pushed me too far away. There is no coming back from it.

I don't want you following me. I'll reach out to Harry when I'm feeling better.

Right now I feel like I'm in Azkaban, no chance of fleeing from there.

I'm sorry."

Fred kept reading the letter over and over again, but the words didn't seem to really stick. His chest tightened so badly that it felt like he was choking.

He had finally done it. She was gone. She was really... Truly... Gone. 2 months before they would tie the knot, really begin their life together.

"She asked me to give you this." Harry then spoke, ripping Fred away from his thoughts. He looked up at Harry who held something in his hand. He let the items drop into Fred's palm.

It was her rings. The promise ring Fred had given her over a year ago and the engagement ring. Fred couldn't tear his eyes away from the rings as the reality really began to hit him. She was not coming back. If Viola gave back the rings... Then that was it. He really had fucked up.

"Did she... Did she tell you what happened?" Fred asked with a gulp and looked up at Harry.

"No, and I don't want or need to know." Harry replied. "You're my mate, Fred, but so is Viola. I don't want to take sides."

"I respect that. Thanks, Harry" Fred said quietly and turned away to walk away.

"Hey, Fred?"

"Yes?"

"Viola said something about some letters that she feared would change everything, do you know what that means?" Harry asked.

"Uhm, I think so, yeah. She and Malfoy have been writing each other since summer. She was scared that I would freak out about it, but I was honestly fine with it. But what does that have to do with this?"

"No idea. But it sounds plausible. Goodnight."

"G'night, Harry. Thanks again."

And then Fred began walking down the street. It was raining heavily still and he still had the rings clenched in his hand.
