The Vanishing of Will Byers.
A typical night in your room, while just vibing with your guitar, playing (I can't get no) Satisfaction from The Rolling Stones. Your record player plays softly as a companion in the background. Your cat was sitting on your bed while you played until the time your brother arrived home. By the time the song stopped playing in the background, you could hear boys screaming outside your house, and you recognized those shouts immediately.
"I'll kill you!" could be heard from your little brother, Dustin, yelling at someone.
"I'll take your X-Men 134!" the other voice replied.
By the time you made your way to the door, you identified that someone was Will Byers, one of Dustin's friends and a member of his D&D party. Both on their bikes, most likely racing each other.
"Goodnight!" Will shouted as he saw you at the doorstep, not stopping his bike and continuing to go home.
"'Night, Will! Say hi to Johnathan for me!" you shouted back, leaning on the door, while watching your brother stop his bike in front of the house.
"Son of a bitch" he cursed.
"Hey" you scolded lightly at your brother's bad mouth.
"He cheated! I didn't say "go"!" he complained.
"Come on, dinner's getting cold" you chuckled as you ignored his pout and ruffled up his cap on his head, softly pushing him inside the house.
At the dinner table, Dustin's annoyance could be noticed by the way he was eating his food. You knew little boys could be petty, but just by losing a race...?
"How was the campaign?" you asked him, wanting to know if there was anything else behind that annoyed pout.
"The damn Demogorgon got Will". Ah.
"Language!" your mom exclaimed at him.
"Well, why didn't he just cast a protection spell?" you asked him. To which he replied:
"That's what I said!! But Lucas insisted on fireball him... asshole" he murmured at the end of his sentence.
"Dusty!" your mom reprimanded Dustin once more.
By mornings, you were always awake first, therefore, in charge of making sure Dustin woke up at a reasonable time to get ready. Most times that meant going to his room at least twice to make sure he was actually up. "Sweetie, please wake up your brother, he's gonna be late!" you groaned at the fact that your brother still needed help to get up to go to school. By this age, you already were waking up by yourself!
You came into his room and saw him still sleeping, with three different Marvel comic books lying on his bed at his sides.
"Dustin, come on" you said in a tired tone because now you were also going to be late. But he just groaned and turned over. You sighed, grabbed the sheets he was sleeping on, and pulled from them hard to roll him off the bed.
