Chapter 8 2 - Jackson! Where Are You?

"Jackson! Jackson! Where are you?" Jennifer called out for him. But there was no response. Jennifer attempted to kick the tree out of the way while panicking, but was thrown back and electrocuted by the electrical charge still in the tree. "Grrr. We'll have to go around it." Jennifer snarled at the tree that was blocking the premade path. Fog began to roll in, making it harder to see. Jennifer frantically looked around for Jackson as the rest of the group just stood there, spaced out. The fog turned a dark gold. The tree blocking their path began shaking heavily. That was, until it was snapped in half by absolutely nothing. Shards of the tree flew like shrapnel and cut Jenn all over her body.

"Hey! Wait! Please!" Jackson continued his endless chase. "What do you want?" The Rogue came to a halt and looked back at him. Jackson took a deep breath and yelled out, "How did you know about the storm." The leaves on the trees violently shook and lightning stuck nearby leaving only the silhouette of the Rogue. "Us Rogues. We have abilities, like you. We're the knowledge givers of the Government. We have different ablities like Timeline Jumping, Time Vision. We're like Guardians, but not as powerful." Jackson put his hand on the Rogue's shoulder, "We could use your help."

"If I hadn't used Rewind to go back such a long time I'd probably be able to go back before Jackson ran off. My stomach still hurts from it." Jennifer thought to herself, wrapping her arms around her stomach, "We need to find away around this." The lightning from the strike was still in the tree zapping the ground around it. The group walked through the other trees around it. The forest was a mess of fallen trees and fire. The wind made fire spread rapidly. Jennifer, Olivia, Justin, and Jamie lost sight of the path because it was so hard to see. "Jackson?" Jamie called for him again and again.

"Jackson?" Jamie continued to call for him, await his response. "Jamie?" Jackson looked around, "Where are you?" Jamie ran to his voice, trying to avoid the trees, "Over here, Jackson!" Oliva tried to get him to slow down, "Jamie, wait! You'll get lost!" She started running after him. The two were separted from the group by a squall of fire and ash. The two kept running towards his voice, "Jackson!" It was like playing Marco Polo but the person is metres away and you cant see a single thing an arm's length in front of you. Eventually, they reached him, "Where's the rest of the group?" Jackson squinted. "We sort of- lost them." Jamie looked up at him and let out a nervous chuckled. "Yeah- thats because you made a run for it when you heard his voice!" Olivia shook her head at Jamie. Jackson hit Jamie on the head with his wrench. "Ow." Jamie rubbed the spot on which he was hit. The Rogue looked at them weirdly. "Come on, we're gonna go look for them." Jackson lead the group, "Jennifer? Justin?"

"Over here!" The two finally joined the group. They were blackened by char and ash. "So... I talked the Rogue into helping us, and they said yes." Jennifer rolled her eyes, "Oh great. Another freak to add to our Ensemble of chaos."
