Who taught you how to hate?: Lifedrainer's story
Lifedrainer had been a soldier in King Ghost's army for many years, serving her kingdom the best way she knew. After lots of medical training, she was appointed as a battle medic, tending to the wounded right on the battlefield and fighting if she needed to.
That was how she met her mate, Reaper, after he almost had his wing torn off in battle. It eventually healed back, and he couldn't have been more grateful.
They had lived together for quite a long time. Lifedrainer retired from the battlefield and was promoted to the head of the medical staff in Ghost's palace. After spending only a few days in her new job, she said that she was never going to have dragonets, because, in her own words: "I vouldn't trust those dragons to stitch arm, much less deliver egg. That's why I do most of ze work."
Oh yeah, and she's Russian. Why? Well, she's from a mafia family. They've been around for a while, and they all speak that way. Live with it.
She and Reaper changed their loyalty from Ghost to Assassin after their world was flipped upside down by a group of dragonets.
Lifedrainer actually didn't mind Assassin all that much, she was a fair queen that tried her best to make all of her subjects happy. Problem is, not everyone is comfortable with change.
Until one day, when Assassin broke every single bit of trust that Lifedrainer had in her.
It was during the return of the Slaughterwings. Assassin, along with the other queens, were meeting on top of the Great Mountain in order to figure out what to do about the vengeful tribe. Reaper decided to be one of the guards that would protect the queen while she was gone. Lifedrainer did her tasks for the day, then greeted the queen as she came back. She asked where the guards were, but Assassin just flew past her and vanished. She wasn't quite sure where or how the queen vanished, but she did. Completely.
Later, when she was worried about what had happened, she received the worst possible news. Reaper, along with the rest of the Wraithwing guards and all of the guards from the other tribes, had been killed by the Slaughterwings. They left only the queens alive, in order to spread fear throughout the land. Lifedrainer was furious to find out that Assassin had just let it happen, but then it got worse: as it turns out, Assassin wasn't ever there. She had sent a hologram, a fake of herself, to make it seem as though she was actually there. Which means she couldn't have actually been hurt, which means that she didn't need any fucking guards in the first place. Assassin didn't tell her own tribe what she was doing, disrespected the other queens by not actually spending time to show up, and in the end, caused the death of Lifedrainer's mate. Needless to say, the doctor was furious.
Lifedrainer was relatively quiet around Assassin from there on out, giving her strange looks and glaring at her behind her back. She never revealed her true anger to th queen, in case she was as cruel as Ghost. Lifedrainer has had to fix up dragons that got in Ghost's way. She wasn't about to make the same mistake.
So she kept quiet. Did her job, never complained, even looked after and did checkups on Assassin's adopted daughter.
Then more crazy shit happened. Lifedrainer had a hard time keeping up with all of the craziness happening in her life, so she stayed out of it. Lifedrainer decided to take a visit to the Storm Kingdom and try to find Smite, the Storm/Wraith hybrid that was Queen Assassin's messenger. And that's how she met Shadow.
He was the mostly unknown resident of the palace that crawled around on the ceiling silently, following anyone of interest. He only seemed to appear if the king, or in this case, the queen, needed him. He was a trained assassin that knew how to do work and do it well. However, after the Slaughterwing problem was dealt with, he seemed to show his true self, escaping the kingdom by cleverly faking his own death. He started developing advanced weapons and tested them by attempting to raid the Stormwing palace. Not the greatest idea.
Lifedrainer arrived shortly after he was beaten, diving down and bringing his beaten and scarred body back to a functional state. She had to replace one of his talons with a bionic one, scrapped together from the remains of his previously mentioned advanced weapons.
After Shadow woke up, he was surprised to see what had happened. Lifedrainer explained the whole thing to him.
"Alright, yeah, but why bother? It's not like I'm going to help you in any way."
"Oh, but you will. You trained assassin, no?"
"I am. You should know that."
"Good. All I need you to do in return is kill Queen Assassin."
"That's... that's what I planned regardless. So, win-win?"
"Sure, if you think so. I'm not choosing sides here, I don't care who's on ze throne, as long as it's not Assassin. Kill her, and then you may forget that I exist."
And so their alliance was struck. Shadow had some ideas on how to easily get to Assassin, but Lifedrainer was playing it safe.
However, playing it safe wasn't always the best option, because it sometimes takes a while. A lot longer than it should have.
They did not expect to get wrapped up in the business of the Noctem Freedom Fighters, but Lord Shadowseeker seemed to want them specifically. So they joined the small group, and were given the rank of General. They both work completely out of their Lord's will, doing whatever he wishes without hesitation. Lifedrainer doesn't like how she has to live now, but she doesn't really have a choice.
Also, Lord Shadowseeker promised Lifedrainer that he would take back the Wraithwings. Meaning that she would get Assassin all to herself. And if there's anything she wants in this world, that's it.
So she will stay as a loyal member of the Noctem Freedom Fighters, until she gets the ultimate prize of being able to exact her revenge.
Because revenge is sweet. And nothing, no one will get in her way.
