He firmly grasped my hand, freezing me place. Welcome chills trickled down my spine. Why was he being cordial when he clearly had no obligation to do so? I wondered. What did I do to deserve this?

I had only met this man hours ago, and yet we still knew nothing of one another. He was just a pretty, kind face as far as I could tell. And I, a helpless damsel in distress. And I had yet to put a name to his pretty face! I realized. We hadn't formally been introduced, yet I'd sobbed ugly tears into his chest already. He must pity me.

Nonetheless, my life a heap of turmoil, sabotaged by forgotten memories and secrets that I couldn't imagine reliving.

"Would you like me to drive you over to your apartment?" he quietly invited, interrupting my thoughts.

"Sure," I responded, hesitantly. Honestly, though, I wanted to be nowhere other than with him. I wasn't truly ready to leave just yet. The thought of going back to a place I didn't remember as home was unsettling.

"It's only about a five-minute drive from here to your apartment. I happen to run by it every morning before work," he declared.

"You have a car in the city?" I asked. "Most people just take the subway or a cab."

"Yes, I own many things. I'd like to give you a lift if that's okay," he replied.

"Shouldn't you be at work now? I'm not holding you, am I? If so, I'm terribly sorry," I started.

"No, you're no trouble at all. Work can wait. Your safety is my top priority right now," he remarked, gazing at me with a hearty smile. Don't leave me...

How could a simple smile be so inviting? I questioned. He had such a powerful effect on me. I wanted him badly. I craved his mouth on mine, his hands all over my body... We didn't have to ever leave this place. We could stay holed up together, just the two of us. But that was in a fairytale world, one far apart from the harsh reality I lived in. My intentions were different from his. He was just being friendly, and I was captivated by kindness, fantasizing of what could be. But what could be, never would. My welcome had been over worn, and now, it was time to return to an unknown world I knew nothing of.

My lustful thoughts vaporized as he carefully assisted me to my feet and carried me over to the front door.

Once outside, the brightness from the sun nearly blinded me, paining my eyes.  Although, the light breeze was refreshing, and I glanced around, embracing my surroundings.

His property was beautiful. Just outside the entrance, a huge water fountain rested, encompassed by the most astonishing brick driveway I had ever seen. I glanced back at the building I had just exited; it no longer appeared to be so small at all. In fact, the building coexisted as a smaller part to a huge mansion!

His home was marvelous, and I had never seen anything so fascinating, other than in the movies I'd watched growing up as a kid. Up ahead of the driveway sat a massive rose garden, which surrounded massive security fences. I felt truly safe here, and I never wanted to leave; I could dwell in the rose garden itself for ages.

He picked a rose from the nearby bush, handing it over to me.

"You're as beautiful as each rose that blooms in this bush," he smiled, as he grabbed my hand and planted a gentle kiss on my knuckles. My heart nearly beat out of my chest at the kind gesture.

Be mine. Stay with me. I'll pick a rose for every day of the week, just to remind you how beautiful you are to me...
