Chapter 3-Friendship?
It was a hour after I got home and I decided to message Leo. I can tell we're going to be friends. I open his contact and send the first message.
'Hey.' I message, getting a soda from the fridge as I wait for a response. Getting Melissa a juice and giving it to her before going up to my room.
'Hey. What's up?' He texts back as I plop on my bed. Making me smile, responding back; 'Not much, Wanted to know if maybe you wanted to hangout today?' I text back and take a drink of my Pepsi.
Almost instantly he responds, 'Yea! When?😃.' He messages with a smile emoji, I giggle at his excitement as I respond. 'Hm, Now? Or soon?' I text back as I wait. I think of where to hangout as he texts back.
'Sure! Where?' He responds, and I hum. 'How about the park?' I text back, playing games on my phone while I wait. I hear my mother in the living room watching TV with Melissa.
I smile as I hear them, my phone buzzing. 'Sure.' He responds, I get up and put my shoes on and go out to the living room to my mom. "Hey, Can I go to the Park to hang out with a friend?" I ask, she thinks for a second but says yes. I pull out my phone and text Leo.
'Meet you there soon?' I text and wait. "Will you take Melissa with you?" She asks and I nod with a small smile. 'Can I bring my sister? My mom wants me to bring her.' I message Leo before he responds.
'Meet you there soon! And sure! I can't wait.' He responds making me smile. I grab a bag for anything Melissa may need, food and drink included. I help Melissa and we head towards the park.
Once we get to the park I see Leo and smile as he waves us over. Me and Melissa walk over to him and he waves to her. "Hi there, What's your name?" He asks, She looks at me and I nod and grab her device, handing it to her. "Hi! My names Melissa. What's your name" She 'says' with her device.
He nods and smiles, "My names Leo." He says, looking at me probably to see if he should shake her hand or not, something I see typical individuals do. I shake my head and hand at him to say he doesn't need to. He sighs in relief, that may seem rude but to me I understand.
Melissa smiles and waves at Leo. "Do you want to play on the equipment?" Leo asks Melissa, smiling at her. She looks at me, probably to ask if she can. I nod and help her to the equipment; He follows and probably nods like 'Ah'.
"She can play some things herself but she needs help to do most of this stuff." I say to Leo, him nodding as I point him to be at the end of the slide while I go to the top. "I'm pushing you now, okay?" I say softly to Melissa, she nods and she slides down to Leo. He catches her, trying not to be awkward as he try's not to accidentally hurt her or touch her in a way she wouldn't like.
I laugh a little at him, sliding on the next slide over and going to her, helping her up. "This will help you get closer. Especially if we hangout with her again. I'm sorry." I say, smiling at him as I let her do her thing. "Melissa will you use your walker so I can hang out with Leo, we'll be nearby of course." I ask, she nods and I get her walker and bring it to her. She doesn't use it a lot because the therapy's to try to I think develop the skills to do more or something.
I let her play and walk with Leo to the bench. "She's cute." He says, smiling at me. I nod in agreement. "I'm glad you agreed to hang out." I say, even tho he started it. He laughs a little. "Me too, I'm glad you agreed." He says, getting his phone out. "Take a photo with me?" He asks and smiles at me, I nod at him and get closer to be in frame.
He takes a photo, Us smiling obviously. I take out my phone and take my own photo with him, and smile after putting my phone away. After that we just watch Melissa play for a bit. "Why did you want to be friends?" I ask randomly and look at him.
He kinda frowns at that question. "You're cool! And we have the same 'issues', I can relate to you." He says with a smile. I smile back and nod. "Thanks." I say as I rub my arm, "You're cool too. Even tho we just met." I laugh and he nods.
"Yeah, We just met but I can tell your cool and gonna be cool." He says as he turns back to watch Melissa. Now there are other kids playing on the equipment, a few stares but they're playing and being nice with her. I smile at that.
After a couple hours, Mom texts that she wants us home for dinner and I sigh a little. "We have to go home. Dinner awaits." I say and laugh a little. He nods and helps me put away stuff. "Text later?" He says in a question, I nod and smile.
"Of course. And see you tomorrow at school." I respond, getting my stuff and getting Melissa. She waves, "Bye! See you soon!" She says with her device, making him smile and nod. "See you soon." He responds and waves as we walk on home.
When we get home dinner awaits, mom smiling and waving at us. Dad is at the table, home before we were done. "Hi dad." I say, putting stuff away and helping Melissa, sitting and eating dinner.
