"I am fine", you said
I looked up from the chocolate cake
and stared at you for a full five seconds
since I knew better

The dark skin of your shaved head
reminded me of the dark chocolate
we had made together

You gave me that beautiful smile of yours
which contrasted with your frail figure
just like the sprinkle of powdered sugar on the chocolate cake

I served a piece of cake on both of our plates
after which we started eating,
painfully and slowly
just like how the cancer was eating you

Gradually becoming aware that
we were coming towards the end,
of the both
So we fought,
fought against each other
for the last piece of chocolaty delicacy
therewithal we were fighting together
to save the last piece of you
