"This is my office." Chrollo's steady low voice echoing its way to your ears conveniently. You turn your head slightly and smile at him. His lips now plastered with a smirk.

It was a normal study room. A leather chair, black desk, and a luxurious lamp. The idea of a bedroom displayed by the king-sized bed on the other side of the room, separated from the office by a single wooden partition. Despite having the base inside a ruined building, his room had the audacity to look like a five star hotel. It was a cozy one-person room. You eyed the rack on your left. A small library packed with an array of self-help books, journals, novels, auto-biographies, and art catalogues.

"Wow you READ read," your fingers trailed against the book rack's wooden frame. "Color me impressed," you looked back at him smiling.

Chrollo was leaning his back against his door. Your compliment made him fiery inside. He crossed his arms and bit his lower lip, locking eyes with your e/c ones. "Thank you, (Y/N)."

"Do you read as well?" he asked you back. "Sometimes, when I'm in the mood I'll read biographies. But mostly I'll treat myself with cheesy romance novels," you said.

"So you're a romantic," he muttered. "What a shame, I don't do romance," he added. You rolled your eyes to his comment.

"Did I ask?" you cockily said lifting a brow. Chrollo stood up and walked his way to you. You could hear him suck his teeth followed by a cocky smirk. He placed his hands on the wooden frame too, inches away from yours. "But I might make you an exception," he whispered.

You chuckled playfully. "Are you trying to tease me, Chrollo Lucilfer?" Chrollo's finger trailed its way to meet yours. He leaned in, killing more distance between his mouth and your left ear.

"No, I'm trying to read you."

"I know."

He grimaced playfully. His true intentions for the first time were exposed explicitly by you, his prey. "I've did my homework. You, sir, are very observant. I know how much you want to be one step ahead your so-called enemies so you try to read them, like a book," you snarked.

"And you read me like an open book, Ms. (Y/N)," his voice cooed. You smiled to his response.

Hours passed by with you and Chrollo talking about random things. Both of you discovering new similarities as well as new things about each other: good food, good clothes, good books, et cetera et cetera. He loved spending each second with you and you did too. It felt as if you both go way back, despite just first laying eyes on each other a few months ago. Sitting on a couch, Chrollo told you stories you haven't heard of before and vice versa. Most of the time was occupied by blabbers about favorite artists and their works, especially Monet.

"About the auction last month, I remember you saying that you haven't had the chance to see Claude in person?"

You were surprised with the sudden question and nodded repeatedly. You remember talking about Claude Monet's Impression, Sunrise with him back then. You were whining about how much you dreamed to lay your e/c orbs on the said masterpiece.

"Well, the next auction will happen somewhere in November," Chrollo continued gaining your consciousness back from reminiscing.

"..and so should you be unoccupied, do you want to take a look with me?" he asked. His fingers ran through his slicked bangs, tidying them back in place. It was the most attractive thing you have ever witnessed. "We can get away for a full week," he grinned.
