"Ok, go over it one more time for me Fabes."
"Come on, you should know this by now Willow we went over it all last night." I could tell Fabes just wanted to eat her lunch so we could go for a walk around the school as always. She says "it helps her stay calm" when we go for the walks, and she's not wrong. I just couldn't remember any of this witch trial stuff.
"I can't remember this stuff like you though" I get really bad anxiety before a test no matter how hard I study.
"Ok, The Salem Witch Trials happened in May 1693. Do you remember where?" She was testing me now.
"Umm,  colonial Massachusetts I think." I feel like this might be wrong but she always tells me to go with my instincts.
"That's right. More than 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft other known as the Devil's magic, and 20 were executed." Fabes went through every little piece of information the whole lunch period, so we weren't able to go on our walk. I didn't understand why this was such a big deal to her.
"We should skip part of the next period to go on the walk." This is coming from the girl that has never skipped a day in her life.
"No, we have the test about the Salem trials next period. You know the thing we spent all lunch studying for, I need to ace this test."
"But.." I interrupted her
"No buts, we are going to class and ace this test!" I practically had to drag her to class, which was weird because normally it's the opposite and I'm the one being dragged. She could tell I was panicking so before we sat down she hugged me and whispered
"You're going to do great, you know this stuff. If you get worried just look at me and breathe make sure not to work yourself up too much." She has always helped me with her talks, when we sat down I immediately reached for her hand and just breathed. Before I knew it the test was in front of me and my brain was going a hundred miles a minute, I don't even remember what I wrote. It was weird but it was over quickly so I didn't care. I looked at Fabes when I finished she was already done, but that doesn't surprise me. She looked over to see my paper and mouthed "Good job, you did it."
I didn't see Fabes until the end of the day after history. We were walking home after school today because soccer practice got canceled. So I guess we finally got that walk in after all.
"Look at these flower willow!"
"Willow, hello?" I pulled Fabes off the sidewalk into a trial
"What are you doing willow?"
"Shh, Liam is coming" I've had a crush on him for about a year, he used to be friends with Fabes and me but when he found out I was pansexual it kind of freaked him out. We haven't talked much since then, but he wasn't against it or anything, I think it just shocked him. He became a part of the popular group though so I don't think he notices me much anymore.
"Oh my gosh, just go talk to him it's not like you guys don't know each other"
"No, are you crazy I can't just do that"
"Yes you can and you will." She shoved me out from the trail onto the sidewalk and made me drop the books I had in my hand.
"Fabes! Owe" Something happened though when he saw me fall Liam rushed over to help me,
"Willow are you ok?" He sounded worried
"Yeah, I think I'm fine."
"Here let me help you" He started picking up my books, and helped me to stand up
"Owe!"
"What's wrong" he sounded concerned
"It's my leg it hurts"
"Ohh yeah, it's bleeding. Let's go sit on this rock, I'll take a look at it."
"Ok, Thank you" He practically carried me over to the rock, and bandaged my leg
"I'm sorry," he said in a soft voice
"For what, you didn't make me fall," I said as I half laughed
"For how I reacted when you came out to me, it wasn't right of me to just ghost you and Fabian after you told me" he's never sounded so sincere before
"It's alright" I didn't know what to say honestly this is the last thing I would have expected
"No, it's not, I've been meaning to talk to you about this but to be honest I was scared" We both chuckled
"Liam, scared. That's something I've never seen" We continued laughing
"I thought you hated me, and I was wondering if you wanted to go get coffee with me sometime." He said that last part so nervously, oh my gosh it was so cute.
"Wow smooth" I chuckled
"I would love to, I'm going out with Fabes later to go dress shopping for homecoming, so how about tomorrow?"
"That sounds great Willow" We both sat there smiling at each other.
Fabes finally came out of hiding and I had forgotten that she was on the trail. Let's just say she's a good actor.
"WILLOW, are you ok? What happened?"
So I played along "Yeah I'm good, I just fell"
"Ok, good. Sorry I ran so far ahead I wasn't paying attention."
"It's all good like I said, Liam helped me out" I gestured to him
"Hi Fabian," he said nervously
"Hey, and you know you can still call me Fabes right?"
"I thought you hated it when anyone that you didn't like called you that."
"I do, but you helped Willow, therefore, I don't hate you"
"You know it's easy to get on my good side I just realized, Hm" she continued. We all started laughing like the old days, it was so great.
"Thank you for helping willow, we should probably go before our parents get worried though" Fabes helped me onto my feet getting ready to finish our walk home.
"Thank you, Liam, I'll see you tomorrow. Text me the time" I waved and started my way down the sidewalk holding Fabe's hand. We always did this, it makes me feel safe. Some people ask us if we were dating, were not. I'm not exactly against the idea though, but as far as I know Fabes is straight, even if there were moments I wish she wasn't.
