Kal sat in his room letting fire dance across his hands and even up his arms. He found it beautiful and fascinating.

"Kal?" Eren asked, opening the door. He gasped when he saw what his little brother was doing. "Kal! I told you not to do that. You could get caught." He said rushing over.

"But, it's so pretty. And cool. Why do I have to keep it hidden?"

"Because it's dangerous."

"I'm careful."

"I know that. But not everyone knows that. It may be beautiful and amazing to us. But not everyone sees it that way. You can't let anyone see. Ever. Promise me you won't." He said, taking his hand.

"I promise." Kal said, hanging his head low.

"I'm just trying to protect you. You know that right?"

"I know."

Kal woke up to the sounds of horns. He scrambled out of bed and grabbed his cloak. Eren ran in.

"Don't even think about going out there!" Eren hissed.

"I need to help. If I don't, people could get hurt. I won't let anyone see me." Kal insisted fastening the cloak around his neck

"That's what you say every time!"

"And have I gotten caught? No. I'm going."

"What about the dragon? You could get killed."

"Fire doesn't hurt me. Remember."

"What if it eats you?"

"It won't."

"What if you get hit by it's tail?"

"I won't." Kal put up his hood and started making his way around his older brother.

"What if-"

"Eren. I'm fine. I'm not a little kid. I can protect myself. You don't have to protect me anymore." He said before running out of the door.

"But I do..." Eren muttered.

Kal snuck outside as chaos unfolded in the kingdom. The dragon was small and quick. It was burning down buildings and roads. It darted around the buildings spewing fire at anyone and anything.

Kal made his way toward a burning building. He glanced around and made sure no one was looking. When he was sure no one was looking, he reached out toward the fire. The flames stretched and clung to his fingers. After a few seconds the fire was gone and his hand was full of fire. He left some sparks to make sure no one got suspicious. He put the fire out on his hand and moved onto the next burning area. The fire was spreading fast so he barely had time to check before he started drawing the fire toward him.

"Come on." He muttered. The dragon spotted him and flew down toward him. Kal heard the hiss of the fire pouring from it's mouth and quickly got out of the way. Even so, the dragon managed to snag his arm. His hand wrapped around the wound as he ran and hid behind a building. The dragon searched for him but before it could find him the royal guard came to chase it away.

He let out the breath he had been holding in and ran back home.
