Kal sat in the corner of the cell again. It had been last night that he had yelled at Julian. "I shouldn't have yelled. He probably hates me. I'm so stupid. Someone finally accepts me and I chase them away. Someone finally cares about me, Loves me! I can't do anything right."

He leaned back and looked at the ceiling. He glanced at the closed door. Still no sign of Julian.

"He's coming today right?" he sighed and shut his eyes. "Who am I kidding? Of course he's not coming. I burned him. He must hate me. He might even be afraid of me." he hugged his knees. "Maybe he should be."

"What do you mean I'm not allowed to walk?" Julian asked as the doctor looked at his leg.

"I mean you're not allowed to walk. Your leg needs to heal. It will only get worse if you move. Minimal or not. No walking for you."

"But-"

"No buts your highness. You're injured. You need rest. I will have a guard monitor you in your quarters to make sure you don't leave bed."

"But I have stuff to do."

"Then you should've thought about that before you went and jumped on the back of a dragon." the doctor grabbed his collar and tightened his grip with each word.

"Right. Sorry."

"You are the future king. You need to protect the kingdom and yourself. So stop getting yourself hurt." he let go.

Julian straightened. "How long?"

"A week."

"But that's a long time."

"Well it needs a long time to heal. Now go. Off to bed. And don't leave."

"Fine."

Julian laid in bed staring at the ceiling. He groaned. "What am I supposed to do? I should be visiting Kal. I should be apologizing. I should be holding his hand. But no. I'm stuck here. Right after a stupid fight that was my fault."

He threw his arms over his face. He lifted them and saw the burn Kal had given him. He touched it. It still hurts. He pursed his lips. "I can't believe I made him lose control. It's my fault he was angry. I upset him. I doubt he would want to see me anyway. I'm so stupid. I just want to see him. Even if he screams at me. I love it anyway."

Kal paced in circles around his cell. "Where is he? Maybe that burn was worse than I thought. Is he ok? There hasn't been a dragon attack yet. Or maybe he actually does hate me. Did I chase him away? Did he lie about loving me? Does he not love me anymore?" he held his head. "Of course I did! I chase everyone away. Even my own brother hates me. Not to mention I hurt him!" he hugged himself.

"Why did I hurt him?" he muttered, slumping against the wall. He held himself as tears streamed down his face. "I just wanna see him again."

Julian sat in bed eating some maxis stems. "Gods I wish this tasted better. What's the point in healing if the thing that makes you heal tastes like dirt? Stupid maxis plants." he glanced over at the book of legends on his bedside table. He reached out. He pulled his hand back. "Nope! No Julian. You made a promise."

He turned away. He reached for the book. "No, Just eat the disgusting plant and forget about the book." he said, shoving the stem into his mouth. He glanced at the book and sighed. "I just wish I could see him. I wanna see him so badly. I want to tell him I care. I wanna tell him I'm sorry. I wanna tell him I love him. Maybe then he'll finally forgive me. And maybe then he can let me try to figure a way out of this."

Kal laid on the floor in the middle of his cell as he stared at the ceiling. He sighed. "It's so boring here alone. Without someone to talk to." he glanced at the glowing torches on the walls. Maybe you could learn to control it. Kal sat up. He held out his hand and drew the fire toward him. The fire sparked but barely moved.

"Being stubborn are you?" he said standing. He walked up to the bars and tried to draw the fire from there. It stretched a bit but not much. Kal sighed and reached through the bars. He took a deep breath and drew the fire toward him. The flames stretched and reached his hand. The fire collected in his hand leaving nothing on the original torch.

"Good." he walked back. "Now what?" he stared at the fire and then back at the torch. "Maybe if I..." he pulled his arm back and threw the fireball and the torch. He looked at the fire and reattached it to its source. "Ok. that's cool. Now if I..." he reached out and beckoned the flame. It came back to his hand. "Hmm. Alright."
