"What has you in your thoughts y/n?" Your Eyes look up to see Quinston at the end of the hallway cheerful as ever. You were in there discussing for a while with the older men. It was no surprise to catch him looking for you. He was your best friend after all."I was just doing a task for my father. You know I would never skip seeing you," returning a smile to the purple ender boy who knew you all his life. His skin shined its dark purple color in the sun.
Quin has beauty you've admired from the first time meeting him. Ender beings were of the lower populations in Brighton. Most stayed in Eden, home of the Enders, or they travel to new places no one has been before. Always eager to go places they've never seen.
Side by side, you walk outside to the gardens. Flowers painted the scenery through their multitudes of colors. Trees are placed around for shade and comfort to those who explore the neverending scenery. "I never remember how lovely spring is till it comes back to us each year," I note to the boy beside me.
He hums in approval. A comfortable silence lingers as we make our way to the fountain. The fountain had become a place for us not to worry about others and have our own time. A spot others would have to uncover to find our fantasy beyond the hedges.
Taking a chance to sit down under the shaded bench while Quinston walks closer to the pond to watch the scenery. " Did you go into Phil's workspace when doing your father's task?" His question taking over the silence that was once there.
I reply with a yes while placing the books given to me beside him. " Phil asked me to hand these back to you knowing I'd come to see you." His eyes glance over to see what was returned to him. "Thank heavens for this. I was losing hope that I would be getting my books back." Quinston releases a sigh.
Purple wisps surround the books as they teleport to his room. As the wisps fade from sight, I take my chance to learn more about the mysterious man. " I expected to just see Phil and Wilbur there, but there was someone else with them when I entered. No one had talked about someone's arrival so I was surprised when I saw the third figure."
"I'm guessing the third person you're talking about is Sir Technoblade. He arrived late last night to the estate moments after we got here." Quinston calmly answers, only focusing on the ducks that swam around in the pond.
Why would he come here instead of going to his estate?
"His estate is being refurbished at the moment after not being there for so long. Philza offered him a place to stay until it is finished." He turns to me with a grin on his face meanwhile I hold a shocked expression. Moving away from the ducks to over where I'm sitting, he says, " You forget sometimes that I can read your mind y/n. I try not to use it on you but it's fun once in a while." I roll my eyes at him.
The intrusion of my thoughts makes me uneasy due to the information that may be accessed by someone else. Quinston and Philza have been good to respect my wishes but do tease me from time to time with their powers.
"Is that so Quin?" I stand up looking him right in the eyes before passing by his shoulder to where the path is. " I think it would be best for me to tell the chef that you wouldn't like anything to eat seeing as your appetite has been filled by your teasing, hasn't it?" A smirk comes to my face as the teasing boy rethinks what he just did.
I start running out of our secret spot and head towards the estate. Feeling my shoes hit the grass and gravel in every step. "Y/n come back here!" Quinston yells from behind me. Footsteps come from behind me as I check to see him chasing me down.
Quin could teleport to catch me in an instance but chooses to run instead. Laughing as I feel the wind blow past me, we run all around the estate. Sun surrounding areas where there is nothing to cover the fields.
Taking a stop by the back entrance, I look back to where Quin stops as we both laugh. My lungs hurt from the use of air for both running and laughter. Neither of us could take another step without losing balance.
Legs trembling just holding our body weight, we take a seat to regain our composure." Haven't had that good of chase for quite some time," Quinston says through deep breaths. "I don't think I'll be able to get up anytime soon y/n."
The wind coming to a subtle breeze, complimenting and warmth given from the sun. I see the sweat around his face to know that he is exhausted like he says he is. "We can stay here for a few more minutes. Deal?"
"Deal."
Techno's Pov
Wilbur and Phil keep going on about the ball from last night. Their annoyance about their behavior seeps into me as I grow annoyed about the everlasting conversation. My posture stiffens through my time spent leaning against this bookshelf. Sitting down or standing up normally will not cut it.
From the annoying chatter to my tense position, I feel discomfort. I turn my gaze over to Philza who's holding notes they wrote to keep track of events. "That seems like the most we'll be able to remember from the ball. I don't know why you insist on us not asking Quinston or y/n for details. They were the ones who brought us back after all," he says to Wilbur.
"Maybe it's the fact that y/n will over exaggerate the story. I made sure to get out of the house early as I could so she would have no chance to tease me."
Wilbur goes on about y/n and her antics she plays with Quinston. Amusing stories told by the older brother to Phil and my ghost of a presence. Taking a look out the window still listening, I look beyond the green fields to where other estates reside.
I'm not located as close to the Atherons as the Everleighs are; located further away from the capital. I placed the book I held onto the window shelf. Interrupting the stories from Wilbur, I hear laughter.
laughter?
Searching the window, my eyes lock onto Quinston and the girl from this morning running around the fields. Feet taking them wherever they lead them. "Phil, who is the girl out there with Quinston?" Phil and Wilbur's attention come to me as they think about the question I asked. "What do you mean Techno?" Wilbur asks, confused.
I wave them over to the window. They haven't gotten out of sight so they should be able to tell who it is. All three of us lookout to the garden where the young adults run after each other. Wilbur burst into laughter when he caught the eye of the two. "Oh Techno, my friend. That girl you see out there, who also came in here, is y/n." His laughter cutting off his words.
This girl is the one in Wilbur's tales?
Phil pats my back. "It's all right Techno. Good thing you asked this now before you went up to her without knowing her name." Reassurance has always been one of Phil's strong suits. His nature brings comfort to those around him, including me.
Phil and Wilbur start to clean up their notes as stated by him, " we've spent our first full day together almost locked up in my workspace. Let's use our downtime before the ball to eat and relax for a while." While they work on that, my eyes go back over to where the pair outside sits. Taking in the face of the girl whom I haven't formally introduced myself to.
Her h/l, h/c hair moved slightly due to the breeze. A sweet smile occupies the girl's face as she talks to the ender boy beside her. The sun leaves a shine on the window, making the outside appear bright and vibrant compared to the dark, mellow room.
The room felt colder at that moment. Sunlight being the only source of heat entering the room. Hairs around my body stand up in response to the feeling. I continue looking at your figure even if the light takes my sight. Your smile never faded away. It filled your surroundings just as sunlight filled the sky with its light. The sun brought heat while your smile held warmth.
A warmth people long for.
