Demi grabbed a box of mostacolli pasta and showed it to Wilmer who nodded his head. She put it in the cart he was pushing and continued down the aisle.
"I feel like I just keep fucking everything up and I feel useless," its been a month since Selena had blown up on her. They hadn't talked since. Justin would sneak Lexi over to Demi's house without Selena knowing because she was the only person Demi ever wanted to see. She was stressed out. Her belly was bigger and she was gaining weight that she didn't want. And Joe was always busy with something so she turned to Wilmer when she needed someone. He was her backbone right now.
"You're not useless Demi," Wilmer argued as Demi shook her head and grabbed her favorite Kashi cereal.
"Yes I am. So I'm gonna cook Joe this wonderful dinner just to cheer myself up," Demi pouted and went over to the cheeses, taking a container of feta cheese off the shelf.
"Demi you're the best wife, friend, lover, sister, daughter anyone could ever have. Trust me when I say that you're not useless," Demi shrugged him off and looked at the list she had made on her iPhone.
"I think that's everything," she said as Wilmer began to push the cart towards the check out line.
"Why do you shrug off everything I say to you?" Wilmer asked in frustration as Demi dug out her credit card.
"Because half the things you say you shouldn't be saying. I'm married Wilmer. And you're my best friend but you just cross the line sometimes," Demi explained, placing the items on the conveyer belt.
"63.74," the cashier said as she finished bagging the items and Wilmer put them into the cart. Demi handed her the credit card and bit her nails as she waited for it to go through.
"Declined," the cashier simply stated as Demi shook her head and pulled the card back.
"Again?" she mumbled as she pulled out some wrinkled bills. Where the hell was all her money going?
"Here's your change," the cashier smiled but Demi couldn't even be bothered right now.
"What happened back there?" Wilmer asked as he was helping her put the groceries in the back of her car.
"Its not important. Just a mix up," but something inside of her told her that it was more than just a mix up.

"Wow Demi, you're cooking! Let me get this on camera," Demi stale faced Miley as she stirred the spinach in the skillet, making sure it was done before moving onto the boiling pot of pasta.
Miley pulled out her phone and recorded a video of Demi stirring the noodles and took a picture of her in her apron, slaving over the hot stove before putting her phone away. "What's the special occasion?"
"Well since you and Liam got your house finished and you're out of ours, I was gonna christen the guest house with Joe tonight," Demi smiled at her plan and began to season the tomatoes exactly how the recipe told her to. If she didn't follow the recipe, she knew she would end up fucking it up.
"Why don't you just let Wilmer move into the guest house?" Miley asked with a quirk of her eyebrow as Demi stopped and wiped her forehead.
"I like having him close to me," no matter how terrible that sounded, Demi couldn't help it. She had loved Wilmer for a long time. She didn't love him now but she felt better with him within her reach.
"It smells good in here," Miley scrunched up her face at Wilmer's presence and took a seat at the island.
"I'm almost done! I think I may have done it right this time!" Demi exclaimed as Miley and Wilmer shared a laugh at her giddiness.
