"Before I start, I need you to promise me you won't tell anyone," he said looking at me seriously and with an emotion I just can't place.

"I promise." I didn't really have anyone to tell unless you count my parents. I didn't really have friends. I liked the loner life though so it was okay.

"Well," he started. "I'm Death. The Grim reaper if you will." He smirked. Clearly someone was proud. I, on the other hand, was shocked.

Holy shit, I think I pissed myself.

"I was always Death, I just didn't know it until I turned eighteen," he said looking at me expectantly, like he was waiting for me to run away screaming 'rape'. Any normal person would have, but, me being the girl I am, just raised my brow telling him to continue.

He relaxed a little, that emotion was back in his eyes but was gone before I could get a good look at it. Hmm.

"Only Jake and Alex know this," he hesitated. "Now you, too."

Ah, the infamous Three Kings. That's what the whole school calls them. Basically, Jake and Alex are Ryder's best friends since preschool.

Jake was cute in that baby face kind of way. He was shy and quiet with black shaggy hair that always had that 'just got out of bed' look. It suit him though. Especially with those yummy grey eyes.

Alex on the other hand... He was quite the opposite of Jake . He had blonde hair with bright blue eyes and -from what I hear- bright personality. And the classes that I do have with him are always fun to be in.

I have never in my life talked to any of them until today that is. You know, the whole 'Death' thing.

"Tomorrow you're sitting with me, baby girl," Death grinned.

"Wait- how old are you, really?" I had to ask. It wasn't in my nature to not question things.

"You won't think of me differently, will you?" He asked worriedly. I looked at him weirdly. Okay?

"Umm...no," I said a little weirded out by the look he was giving me.

"I'm 3041 years old," he mumble while looking down, ashamed. I didn't like that and I don't know why so I lifted his head making him look me in the eye, smiling reassuringly.

"I don't see you any differently," I said, smiling. Quickly I took my hand from his chin and stood up. He stood up too, towering over my tiny self by a little more than I foot. He smiled at this.

"Bye," I said quickly. Turning around I heard him yell.

"Don't forget tomorrow, baby girl."

I didn't sleep a wink that night.
